No more chicken for a while!

Well, it's been an interesting last couple days. Sunday morning I tossed my breakfast. This was the first time I had gotten sick since my surgery 4 weeks ago. I think it was the toast, but not sure. Then tonight I had chicken for first time (that wasn't pureed). It went down fine, only had about 5 bites and waited 4-5 minutes between bites. Chewed the hell out of it also. Then about 45 minutes after I ate I got sick , not once but . Guess I'll hold off on the chicken for the time being. Good news though. In four weeks I have lost 19 lbs! I'm really excited about this. I wore a size 18 dress on Saturday to a wedding. Four weeks ago I was wearing a 24-26. Unblelievable. Overall I feel pretty good. I just don't like this puking thing. I am so anti-puke it's not funny. Guess this is one of those things that happens with this surgery. It will get better I am sure. I'm going to take it easy again tomorrow with my food and stick with pureed stuff for a day just to give my "Pearl" (name of my pouch) a chance to recoup from the chicken fiasco. Deb

I feel you with the chicken, I tried some chicken a couple of times and the same thing happenend to me, one time it even got stuck oh that was terrible & I was in school and there was nothing I could do about it. I had some steak cut up real fine & that went down ok so I guess that will be my meat choice for now.

Thanks for the reassurance. Now I'm a little scared to try new foods, even though I know that chicken can be a problem. I had tried chicken several times already, but pureed and didn't have a problem with it. I guess trying to learn this new pouch thing is going to take some time. I have had chili with beef in it and it hasn't been problem. Maybe I'll just keep to the moist beef for a little bit. Thanks again. Debra

Sorry about the puking! That's no fun! I just wanted to second the bit about eating dark meat. I get the boneless skinless chicken thighs. I cut them up and stir fry them in pam....with some garlic and whatever squash is ready to pick in my garden. I haven't had any trouble with it...just don't over cook! Also add a boullion cube and a little water...it is pretty good. I can usually eat about 1/3 of a thigh. I dumped on tuna.....diarrhea, vomitting......the whole nine yards so I know where you are coming from. Steak didn't set to well either so I am not having beef for awhile! I guess it is all trial and error for awhile! I am afraid of new foods.....always afraid that I will dump again! Sue

Chicken has been ok for me as long as it is moist. My nutritionist suggested dark meat as it is more moist. I had a bit of a breast at a BBQ and inded up throwing up. Too dry is not good. But moist chicken or in a sauce has been fine.
