I'm down 52 pounds since my initial consult on May 19th and 46 since my surgery June 10th. I work out EVERY night on the LifeCycle sometimes at 1:30am. I typically go 20-30 minutes on level 4. Everyone at work is so supportive and complimentary! They are telling me how great I look and to keep it up. I can tell that I've lost weight and I've lost at least 4 inches off my waist. I'm generally not hungry and have no problems eating solid foods but really small portions. I also have no problems having a shake and soup for lunch and dinner. I'm taking the vitamins and generally feel great. I have my 2 months post-op on July 28th. I'm looking forward to meeting with Dr. Roslin, thanking him and find out what he thinks the next steps should be. I'd love to start lifting some weights again but want him to clear that. Not sure if he'll give me a fill since I seem to be losing weight at a nice pace. This is definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. No more swelling on my left foot, no more snoring and I can fit into booths at the diner! I intend to update more regularly again. Until next time all the best to my fellow Juners and my prayers and best wishes to anyone about to have the surgery and join us on the losing side!

Congratulations Ed!!! I had my surgery 3 days after you, and have lost almost the exact same amount! Doesn't it feel great? It sounds silly, but I think I can actually feel the "Health" running through my veins. I am actually out there doing things, going places, enjoying life. It feels so good to be able to play with my 2 year old. And it will only get better for all of us! I too have wondered about maybe starting a little weight training- I wouldn't be doing it for strength, but more for toning. Please let us know what your doctor says about the weights. I hope you have continued success! Stacy

Hi Ed & fellow Juners! So great tohear how well you all are doing and I love to read up on the changs that are happening to folks in our "month"! Thought I'd chime in a little on the lifting weights issue~ I had surgery on the 21st and my doc said I was clear to do light weights with high reps....meaning liftvery low weight many times. It is also a great time to learn proper technique and form so that when you can start lifting, you will be doing the exercises correctly. If you can just "wake up the muscles" with very low weights, they will stay healthy and not fade away. Plus, muscles that are working, even at a greatly reduced weight, will want calories and fuel which helps our weight loss. Hope this helps - but as always, talk to your doctor and follow his or her advice - Hugs and congrats to you all! Tracey 352/312/???
