Hey ladies, I went and bought a 32 oz bottle of liquid protein from gnc today. It has 18 grams in 3TBS. I figure if I can take 6 tbs per day, I can get the rest of my protien from the foods that I actually can eat, which isn't much, but I can. I know that string cheese has 8 grams per piece and that I like and get down. Anyhow, the protein is syrupy and thick, and it'*****h flavor. It is not great, and by the third one I was gagging. However, in my opinion, I'd rather gag twice a day than to have to try and get 2 protein shakes down, because that takes so much longer. YUCK! The girl at GNC also told me that one 16 oz bottle of the isopure has 40 grams of protein and that I could drink it in intervals throughout the day if that would help. Just a suggestion to some of you if your interested. I think I'll try the syrupy stuff for a while though, it gets done a whole lot quicker. Can anyone give me some suggestions on high protien foods that I can have? I'm 3 weeks out, and my doctor says I can have tuna, chicken and so forth not until I'm almost 5 weeks, so I'm still kind of at a lost. I think I've eaten about all the beans I can, and eggs too.

I bought the liquid protein from GNC too however I can not get it down! I thought 3 tbl spoons at a time can't be that hard, boy was I wrong. I will succeed at this though and plan on using this tool I have been given to reduce my weight and regain my health therefore If I have to drink the nasty tasting stuff in order to get my protein in I will. Strange enough I bought the Isopure with the 40 grams of protein too I got the Alpine Punch. I haven't tried it yet though. I am only 4 weeks out and mainly get my protein from cottage cheese, string cheese, Wendy's chili and carnation SF instant breakfast made with skim or 1% milk. Good Luck Ms JoAnn -25lbs open rny 6/21/05

I posted a request to see if anyone was familiar with PROBLEND 55 from GNC and others. It contains 55 grams of protein in an 8oz glass. I couldn't find the post later, I think it was because I placed a link to it which contained purchasing information. Maybe this link will meet the Terms of Service of the posting board. http://www.epinions.com/well-review-4D27-C54275-39C8E055-prod1 By the way, I am not promoting this stuff. Quite the opposite. Bought this and I didn't like it at all. I intend to return it and attempt a monetary refund request. But, if you can stand protein drinks, this one seems promising.

Hi Penny, Maybe you could mix the 3 T with some crystal light iced tea and make it flavored ice tea - I don't know, I haven't tried. I've been eating a protein bar a day (it takes me about 3 sittings) to help me boost my protein. Also there are some good protein shake recipes in the WLS for Dummies book if you can get your hand on a copy. I personally like most of them except for the Orange Creamsicle. You're supposed to use vanilla flavored Unjury powder though and all I have is the unflavored so I added some liquid vanilla. Maybe I didn't add enough because I couldn't taste it at all. For the chocolate I just use a little cocoa and it works beautifully. Can you have fish (tuna, etc) if you puree it? That's what I've been doing. How about mashed potatoes? Good luck! Kate

Protien bars is a good idea, I never thought about that. Well, I guess because "legally", I'm still on soft foods, and no tuna or anything for another week, that's per my doctors instructions, and I pretty much go by his instructions to the T!lol Never thought about mixing the tbsp, what I have actually been doing is taking 2, 3 times per day, they go down better that way. I feel like my 3 year old son when I have to take them. I have to have the water right there beside me before I start gagging. It's all okay though,I'll endure it, it's worth it to me.
