Hi everybody. I had my Lap roux en y on 6/23 and its been some rollor coaster for me. I finally found a protein shake I like and I'm up to the point in my diet that I can have soft fish. If anyone likes fish try sea bass... its very very soft and goes right down... okay now to my dilemmas. Tell me I'm not the only one here. 1. Of course I have the mid to left side pain in my left side. It's been pretty excruciating over the past 3 weeks. The pain has all of a sudden switched to the lower part of my stomach under my incisions. I think I might have really killed my insides. Feeling pretty good I tried to have sex this morning. During intercourse I sort of felt a burning stretching feeling from the my mid to lower left side of my stomach. Damn... back on the vicadin. How long does is this burning going to actually last. Does anyone think I may have did some permanent damage to myself today or just overly stretched the muscles that have been healing? 2. I feel really good walking standing and sitting in certain positions however forget about sitting upright on a dining room chair. 2 weeks post op I sat at a card game for 4 hours and again.. .think I damaged or bruised myself pretty bad.. Sort of reclined is the only comfortable position for me at this point. Any others with this sitting problem? 3. I know we are left with a 2-3 oz pouch after our surgury. Why is it that if I eat really soft piece of fish I can finish a 5 ounce piece without feeling really bloated or full and then some things sort of feel like they are sitting in my throat? Something sound wrong here? Well I'm going to be the room worry ward. Hope the room doesn't get sick of it. Thanks for the support. Nick

Hi Nicholas... I'm also 4 weeks out. I had those dreaded pains within my incision areas for about 3-4 days straight (excrutiating). I know what you mean about sitting in a chair too... owee! I woke up this morning feeling normal for the first time... no pain. I went to work out (eliptical machine) and then came home, laid flat on my back on the floor to stretch my abs and just calm my nerves. I hope I don't wake up with pain tomorrow becaue I believe working out is what caused it the first time. I posted this problem, too. Others told me to call the doctor if it didn't get better in a few days (could be a hernia), but I was told by my doctor that it is really difficult to hurt your incisions from normal day-to-day activities. You might want to call your doc just in case. I think mine was torn and retorn newly healed muscle that they cut through with the RNY. It's rehealing now. Hope yours gets better soon!

I too still have the pain on the left side. I take a dose of liquip loratab in the morning. And if needed one in the afternoon. Today I went the whole day without any medication and it was not fun. I also had sex for the first time post op today. I had no pain! 2. I cannot sit in 1 area long. reclining is the most comfortable. I also swim everyday and walk even if it is up and down my hall way slowly. It seems that walking helps with the pain. 3. I Just really do not even feel like eating and when I do after a couple of bites I am full. I make my protein shakes my priority. I ate a bite of mash potatoes and I felt Sooooo full I will not do that again. Thanks for sharing (((((hugs))))) Joni.RNY.6.27.2005

Hi Nicholas! Im 35 days post-op and dont worry, you are not the only one with these worries! it seems like thats all I do is worry! I wonder am I eating the right foods, the right amounts, the right times, do i walk enough, do I drink enough, am I losing at the right pace, am I stretching my pouch by eating 3oz. at each meal??????????????? and on and on! it sounds like alot of people at this point post-op have the same concerns. I use to update more but I never got feedback so I quit. I dont know if I had the right email address or what the problem was. but recently I have been checking-in more and find that I have alot of the same concerns as others. It is realy helpful to come to this site and have access to all this wonderful information!!! best of luck to your journey!! also, as far as the pain with your activity, I would say that if it hurts, stop and try again later. your body will tell you when you need to back off and try again later, thats why our bodies feal pain, to signal us to proceed with caution! my most recent attempt was sit-ups, I made it to 3!! and boy oh boy did my body scream STOP!!! my husband said I was ruhing to fast, it had only been about 30 days. as far as sex goes, I would think this would be easier on the ladies and better tollerated, we do not have as much work or physical demands during missionary intercourse. so, take it easy. try somthing less physical for now. best wishes and God bless you and your journey.
