Hi all, I had my suge...
Hi all,
I had my sugery on 6/6/05 and have lost 27lbs since surgery and 45 all total, thats as of last Tuesday. I know that I should be happy with that. But its hard not to see the scale move. I have increased my exercise and am getting my protien in(60 to 70g) per day. I will try to increase my water but there doesnt seem to be enough hours in the day to do this. My energy level is good and I feel great, just depressed at the scale not moving. I read the posts and know I'm not alone. Just needed to vent. Does anyone have any suggestions?
God Bless you all on the new Journey that we are on .
Andrea
Hi Andrea,
I am in the exact same boat. I had my surgery 6/7 and have lost 29#, 42# in all. I waited two weeks to weigh and only lost 4 #. I feel like I am doing everything I am supposed to do. My Dr. says to not weigh until I see her Sept. 1. That is a long time!! I too feel good , drink my fluids, eat and drink protein and exercise. I can't believe how little I eat. I just expected to lose more. I am starting to get very depressed over this. I wish I was writing something to cheer you up and encourage you but I feel the same. I have no regrets though. There are so many mini goals I have. The first one being able to fit in an airplane seat to take my son to college Sept. 1. I feel like that goal may not happen! We can always drive!! Hang in there. I will also. God Bless you too. Diane
Hi Andrea:
My surgery was 6/13 and my WL has also slowed down big time. I had lost 16 on the two week preop liquid diet and have lost only 22 since surgery, total 38. My surgeon told me last week that it is normal between weeks 4 and 6 for the WL to slow down, then it will pick back up. I'm banking on that!!

MY weight slowed down the last week into this wee****ep goiing up and down the same few pounds and its hard to watch. I wish i wasnt such a scale addict. I know inches are melting i feel it in the clothes but we all no how the scale motivates us. I keep strong do what im supposed to but its hard. HANG in there and lets all prey that whooshie fairy visits. FOR me this is the PMS week just before so i guess it might be a reason im doing so badly who knows.

I'm only 3 weeks postop, so am a real novice, but I have to be patient because I can't exercise. I had the surgery so I could have a hip replacement (must lose 100 pounds to have the surgery), and I'm bone on bone in my right hip. Other than the walking in the hospital, which I paid for dearly in terms of pain, I have not exercised other than walking around the house. So I have had to be patient. The upside of slower weight loss, I'm told, is that the skin shrinks slower which can minimize the possibility of sagging skin. Plus all the water we're drinking will keep the slower-shrinking skin hydrated, which also contributes to less sagging. Hey, however slow the weight loss, it's still faster and much less will-power dependent than before surgery, huh. Anyway, that's what I'm telling myself so that I don't get depressed, because, like I said, I have no choice in the matter. I can't just step up my exercise program if weight loss becomes slow. I had my surgery 6/21 and as of today, 7/20, I have lost 20 pounds.
Hi Andrea! We share the same surgery date! I lose 39 pound at my frist dr appt. I have losed 45 pounds total! I chew on Ice all day I have trouble with tuna and chicken, I can eat pork and ground beef 98% lean!
