I just drank my first pro...
I just drank my first protein shake, it wasnt bad at all. I mixed it with chocolate protein powder, some ice and water and some lite and fit carb control yogurt, (vanilla cream). But it was too large. I did drink it all and it was about 42 grams, but am I supposed to drink it all? It really filled me up. I drank it slow, but after I did I was worried I drank too much. About how many ounces are the shakes supposed to be.? I also used it as my meal for dinner, there was no way I could eat after that.

i make my protein shakes no more than 1 cup as i use carbcountdown milk (green container) which has 12g porteins in it, and 1 scoop unjury choc. protein powder which has 20 grams protein.. as our bodies can only absorb 30 grams at 1 time.
I drank a canned protein drink at 2 weeks out and i passed out.. I drank all 12 ounces of it to fast..

YES - i felt light headed and sat down, i knew something was wrong and i was not at home but at bingo one of the staff members saw me and said i didnt look well, she caled over for a EMT and that was all i remember.. i asked my support group about it, and they all said i drank it to fast, and to much. All said i should have sipped it slowly and only drink about 4 oz. it was a surprise to me as the ones i made at home I make them 8 oz and drink at same speed.
I always start out in the morning with a protein shake. I use 8-10 oz of mootopia skim milk and I add splenda and ice and my crushed pill of the Hair, Nails and skin from GNC. With the ice when I put it in a cup it goes to about 20oz. I just sip on it until it is gone. I am just taking my last sip for this morning. It has taken me about an 1 1-2 hour to 2 hours. I have been on the computer while sipping. My other protein shake I drink in the evening which I sometimes add frozen blueberries and splenda and ice. After eating these protein shakes I was having a hard time getting in 4 meals. I was told the other 4 meals can just be a bite or 2 if that is all I can eat just so your body does not go into starvation mode. I purchased a timer from Sally's Hair store and I love it. I can hang it around my neck. It helps me time when to eat and drink so I do not have to be constantly looking at the clock. this is just my experience.
Good Luck

I drink the Chocolate Pure Whey Stack (see http://www.vitalady.com/products-protein-stack.htm?search=action&keywords=cheramino). I've got one of those Magic Bullet blenders so I just fill it up with about a 1/4 of tap water, then add a scoop of the Chocolate Pure Whey Stack, then a couple shakes of the power splenda (or 1/2 small single package), turn the blender on for about 10 seconds...and then drink. I drink one before leaving for work in the mornings and then if I don't feel I have got enough of my protein in for the day, I drink another before going to bed.
I don't think I can drink more than this at one time because it is filling. I think because it is liquid, as long as we drink (sip) slow...we'll be okay. The main thing I am concerned with is getting my protein in daily. I'm not so fond of meat and daily products haven't seemed to agree with my since my WLS.
Before my WLS, other people said that they add ice, light cool whip, etc. to their shakes to make them taste better. With the kind I've got....I've never had a problem with the taste. Also - -I tend to want something fast and that taste good.
Best wishes. I think you're doing okay. Liquids are good for us as long as we sip...and not during our three meals daily....and protein shakes are good for us as long as we are doing what we can to get our needed protein in from food sources other than just protein shakes.
Hi, my surgery was on June 14th. My doctor told me not to drink more than 8 ounces at a time and to sip this slowly over 20-30 minutes to prevent vomiting or discomfort. Even though it does go through faster since it is a liquid, I have found this amount to be about all I can comfortably handle at this point. I usually prefer mine over lots of ice.
