I'm a little over 3 weeks out and have been feeling pretty good.... I must've overdone myself because now I am feeling intense sharp pain right above my navel... like someone is grabbing my internal sutures and pulling them from behind. It hurts to sit, stand up, have a BM (push), and just plain use my abs in any way. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm assuming I pulled/tore healing sutured areas inside, but how long before they re-heal? Katie

I'm no doctor, but it just might be muscles (hopefully) instead of interior sutures. Let's hope!

Hi Katie, I am not sure if the pain you have is at all like what I had, but mine was in the left side of my stomach, in between my belly button and the largest incision. I felt like a knot was in there and like I pulled a muscle. I called the dr's office and they said it sounded like it was the healing process and maybe some scar tissue was forming. They told me to call if I started a fever, chills or any swelling or redness around the scars. It went away a couple days later. But yours sounds more severe so maybe you should call also.. I hope it gets better soon. Take care, Carla

I also have severe sudden pains a couple of days ago. For me I believe it was gas believe it or not. I never knew gas could be so painful. I started drinking my hot cammomile tea again and gave up on the pureed meats and the severe sharp pains have gone away. Hope you feel better Joni 6.27.2005.RNY

Hi Katie, Sorry you're hurting! I had something similar above my belly button near one of my laparoscopy sites. It started like a contraction where the muscle balled up and wouldn't relax then it just plain hurt. I was also worried I was getting a hernia. My surgeon said I wasn't stretching enough and told me to gently stretch several times a day. The exercise physiologist showed me how to stretch while sitting in a chair by holding onto to the arm and turning to the right then left then holding my arms over my head and holding each stretch 30 seconds. I wasn't very convinced at first but it helped and I didn't have that feeling anymore. Don't overdo it, but if you're worried I would still call your surgeon. Hope you feel better soon. Hanan
