Severe internal suture pain!! Owweee!
I'm a little over 3 weeks out and have been feeling pretty good.... I must've overdone myself because now I am feeling intense sharp pain right above my navel... like someone is grabbing my internal sutures and pulling them from behind. It hurts to sit, stand up, have a BM (push), and just plain use my abs in any way. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm assuming I pulled/tore healing sutured areas inside, but how long before they re-heal?
Katie
Hi Katie,
I am not sure if the pain you have is at all like what I had, but mine was in the left side of my stomach, in between my belly button and the largest incision. I felt like a knot was in there and like I pulled a muscle. I called the dr's office and they said it sounded like it was the healing process and maybe some scar tissue was forming. They told me to call if I started a fever, chills or any swelling or redness around the scars. It went away a couple days later. But yours sounds more severe so maybe you should call also..
I hope it gets better soon.
Take care,
Carla
Hi Katie,
Sorry you're hurting! I had something similar above my belly button near one of my laparoscopy sites. It started like a contraction where the muscle balled up and wouldn't relax then it just plain hurt. I was also worried I was getting a hernia. My surgeon said I wasn't stretching enough and told me to gently stretch several times a day. The exercise physiologist showed me how to stretch while sitting in a chair by holding onto to the arm and turning to the right then left then holding my arms over my head and holding each stretch 30 seconds. I wasn't very convinced at first but it helped and I didn't have that feeling anymore. Don't overdo it, but if you're worried I would still call your surgeon. Hope you feel better soon.
