Frustrated!!!
Well, I have been doing fine, and yesterday the Doc told me I could start on foods, I was so excited, At two weeks I had lost 26 lbs So imagine my enjoyment eating again, well it got stuck, everything I have tried to eat has gotten stuck, it's all pureed and I'm eating out of a baby spoon, call my Doc and I am told I probably have a stricture and will have to have it stretched, so now I am back to liquids until I call them Monday, Has anyone else went through this???? It's awful, I just needed to vent, and on top of that I think I am getting sick. Please let me know...
My doctor told me I could start pureed foods so I took a hard boiled egg and smooshed it really fine and ate it. My pouch said....NONONONO and sent it right back. Then 2 hours later I went and had broth. Again, NONONO!!! Spoke to dr and was told to go back to protein shakes and water for a few days. Today was easier.

THIS JUST HAPPENED TO ME LAST WEEK. THEY USUALLY TRY TO GIVE YOU MEDICINE TO SPEED THE EMPTYING OF YOUR STOMACH. IF IT DOESN'T GET BETTER AFTER THAT (they might also give you antacids) then they will do an EGD. This is where they give you a medicine to make you go to sleep, then they put a scope down your throat. Inside this scope there is a balloon. The balloon stretches out the opening. They may have to do this more than once if you are having problems. It worked for me so far after one time. Then they will let you go home after you are tolerating fluids. This can be done inpatient or outpatient. You will need someone to drive you home. The medicine makes you a little dizzy for a couple hours. They might want you to be hospitalized prior to this so they can give you IV fluids if you are dehydrated. GOOD LUCk!

I am 7 weeks post op and I can not eat solids. I try to eat eggs scrambed and nope it gets stuck and all comes up, I tried soft chicken leg, nope.. i went to dr - no stricture but he likes us to nurse our new pouches for 3 months on soft soft foods, and then slowly introduce eating the smallest of bites and chewing until it practly disolves in our mouths. i have seen others on solids way before me, we are all soo different and even after surgery the rules don't apply to everyone
