protein
I drink the Chocolate Pure Whey Stack (see http://www.vitalady.com/products-protein-stack.htm?search=action&keywords=cheramino). I've got one of those Magic Bullet blenders so I just fill it up with about a 1/4 of tap water, then add a scoop of the Chocolate Pure Whey Stack, then a couple shakes of the power splenda (or 1/2 small single package), turn the blender on for about 10 seconds...and then drink. I drink one before leaving for work in the mornings and then if I don't feel I have got enough of my protein in for the day, I drink another before going to bed.
The carnation shakes are what they had me to drink pre-op but I found post-op...I could not handle them....nor any other dairy product it seems. Pre-WLS - - I loved dairy but it seems my body does not like it at all right now. I'm told that there will be changes at all times and just because I can't stomach dairy right now, I may be able to later.
I would love to try protein bars - - but I'm not at the stage yet to even try them....and since they were something I lived on before WLS....I don't want to get dependent on them again since we are to be learning a healthier lifestyle of eating....and not depending on the low calorie shakes and bars now.
I don't really like meat...but the only types that have seemed to work for me so far are the ones packaged like tuna (in cans and ready to serve packs). Besides tuna, they have ham, chicken, and other types of meat. They are soft and moist and have not caused my stomach to hurt like trying small bites of beef, steak, grilled chicken, etc. Oh - - before WLS...I ate a lot of turkey. It doesn't seem like my stomach likes it now or even the yellow in eggs seems to make me sick. The white in eggs has a lot of protein...also - -refried beans.
All we can do is keep doing our best, learn tips of what is working for others so we can try it...and then finally - -figure out what is best for us.
'Hang in there. You're not in this alone.
