Hi.. I had my surgery on the 21st of June.. I feel great..I am concerned I dont get enough to eat. I eat three times a day, 2 or 3 TBLS. each meal, I also dont get nearly enough protein. I still puree my food and think I will be able to get more once I dont have to do that. I drink a protein drink with my crystal lite to get more grams. Hopefully that will be enough. Does anyone have any suggestions on things to eat or drink high in protein. I'd appreciate any advice anyone could give me..Thanks.. Carla

Hi Carla! I had my surgery on the 21st of June too! I am having a hard time getting enough food in, too. I found out that beans have more protein than meat, so I have been eating a lot of them. Also I have had a lot of seafood, I had white fish and shrimp so far. I have only been eating protein foods, because I can't get down those nasty protein drinks anymore. Yuck! I never tried them in Crystal light though, I just put them into milk. Do they taste OK in crystal light? I will try it. So, just try eating high protien foods such as beans, seafood, chicken, eggs, cheese (especially string cheese) and maybe tofu, if want to try it. I never have. That is all I can think of right now.

I use the citrus drinks, not the powder. There is 40 grams of protein in a bottle and I usually put a quarter of it in my crystal lite at a time. I get them at GNC. They are pretty good. I havent tried the powder shakes yet. I am too afraid too..Do you have to puree the beans and seafood. I eat tuna, but make it into a salad and I puree it. I will definately try the cheese though. That sounds good..

BETWEEN meals i drink as a snack which my nutritionist told me too have is i have a glass of CARBCOUNTDOWN chocolate milk. WITH a glass having 12 grams of protein that only 3 times in the day is half my required protein at 36 grams and i love it its like a cheat!!!!! GOOD LUCK! I also ordered and drink the NECTAR from bariatric.com and somedays i use that to keep my protein up! GOOD LUCK LISA

Wow. I am not even allowed to "eat" yet. All I can have is protein drinks ( I drink EAS whey protein 23 grams a shake, and Isopure 2g of protein per ounces, I drink about 4-5 oz at a time). I am only on yogurt and full liquids right now. And frozen pops. I can have one carb countdown yogurt for 5 grams of protein, but I can't ever eat it all. Maybe half or so. If I have pudding I make w/ fat free milk, it is 4 grams for 4 oz. Which I can't eat it all. One sugar free fudgsicle is 2 grams of protein. You have to remember you have to eat these 2 hrs apart or you don't absorb it. I average from 45-58 grams of protein per day right now. I do 2 of the EAS shakes, and I just mix mine w/ 6 oz water and some ice in a shaker. I find the blender makes it fuzzy and I don't like that. Atkins Advantage is good also, but less grams of protein. And I usually have Isopure once a day. And then I might have some milk, or pudding, or a fudgsicle. I am doing okay w/the protein, it is the water that is getting me. But I do make it to 40oz, I just can't seem to go beyond. In a couple of days I can have baby food, applesauce, & a banana. A week after I can have cottage cheese, mashed potatos. It will be 2 months before I can have the kinds of things you guys are eating.

Try making your pudding with SF pudding, two cups of carb countdown milk and a scoop of protein powder. This give you 10 grams of protein in a half cup of pudding. That is the absolute limit of what I can hold at a time. Cindy

Thanks, I havent even tried the pudding. I havent tried milk at all yet either, but will try the carbcountdown milk to see if I can tolerate that. Do you use plain protein powder or flavored. I bought some chocolate, but havent tried it yet.

I use flavored or unflavored depending on the flavor of pudding and powder I have...if I make pistachio pudding I use unflavored...if I make white chocolate, I add my white chocolate, strawberry powder. Either way it makes it more palatable to me. C

Thanks, I will try that.. What is the brand of the unflavored you use? Is it totally tasteless?
