3 weeks out and kayaking today!
Hi everyone! I was so excited about my day today, that I just had to get on here and share this with all of you. I am 3 weeks post op and I went kayaking on the lake today! I still can't believe it!
I guess you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it! I was hoping my experience today would make others realize "YES!!! we're back and can have fun too!"
Congradulations! I went for a 2 mile hike today. That shocked me. Other than my ankle giving way and the one spill I took, it was wonderful! My ankles have done that all my life, but not very often. Today just happened to be one of those days. We went to the Stone Door which is a beautiful place where you can see off the top of the little mountain that we live on. My kids had a blast. Bring on the extra energy.
Kayaking! That is so cool!!
I began a regular exercise routine last Saturday. I do treadmill and a weight circuit.
My next goal, which I hope to accomplish this weekend, is to get back on my bike and go for a ride. I used to ride avidly, but since about 5 years ago, haven't been able to ride for a variety of reasons. I used to do about 6 miles a day, then a 20 - 30 mile ride on the weekend.
Here in St. Louis, we have something coming up next month called the Moonlight Ramble. It is a bike ride that starts at midnight and goes all over the streets of St. Louis (in the city, where I live). I think they offer 12 and 20 mile routes, so my hope is I will be in good enough condition to do the 12 mile route.
Keep up the great work and congratulations!
