Has anyone else experienced this??

Girls, I am not trying to sound mean by this so please don't take it that way. I am just very sad for you guys because apparently the pain that you suffered with this surgery has become a vague memory. We had this surgery to help us as a tool to control our eating and personally, if I ate something the doctor told me not to eat - I want to dump - a lot! I intend to stick to the plan as closely as possible so that I can get the maximum effect and outcome. I am not "trying" this food or that food that I was told to avoid because I don't want to do ANYTHING to mess this opportunity up. This is my last chance to lose this weight and become healthy and you have to want it SO bad that you will do whatever it takes. If you are still on full liquids like me, please stay on them until you go to pureed. Protect those pouches while they are healing. Please, I am saying this with all the love I have because I know the TV commercials and the aisles in the grocery stores are hard to deal with, especially when your family is still eating real food. If you are on pureed already, stay there until you are supposed to go to soft foods. The doctors have experience and education on what is best. After all, they are the ones that did all of that reworking of your digestive system. Get measuring cups, measuring spoons, a food scale (cheap at Wal-Mart) and don't go over it. We need 64 oz of liquid a day and at least 50 grams of protein. Make your choices count. Use your computers to google and find what is the best for protein. Ask on here what everyone else is doing and let us help you. That is what this site is for. I hope no one is offended by what I have said. It is only because I love people and I only want what's best for you. I am 11 days post op and as of today I have lost 24 pounds. That is not to brag, but I am sticking to my doctor's plan so that I can go beyond his goal for me and reach MY goal. Don't forget those vitamins. Everybody says to walk often and I hope to start being able to do that next week when I get off my period. Right now I don't have enough energy in this heat to do it. I do have a Leslie Sansone "Walk Away The Pounds" dvd that I can do in my air conditioning and stop when I need to. Email me if you want to know where to find it. Hugs to you all and prayers that we all get healthy, Cindy

Cindy thank you for your response and that goes for everyone else too. I am 12 days out and so far I have lost 13 lbs. but everyone loses at a different rate. You are doing fantastic. I have begun to use my mearsuring devices such as a medicine cup (1 oz), regular measuring cups (especially the 1/4 cup), and my baby spoon. The spoon helps my take smaller bites. I am still having trouble with getting in my protein but I am working on it. I live in a small town and have now been able to get to the next town where they have more choices. I want to get some protein powder the increase my protein intake. I am not on full liquids anymore (thank God) but on semi solids. I can have purre (sp) vegetables, jello, pudding, yogurt, cream soups strained, and even very grounded almonds. I put the almonds in my yogurt to increase my protien. I agree that this is my last chance to lose my weight that is why I have been so concerned and DO NOT want to mess anything up. I have also started walking. I am suppose to walk for 5 minutes and that is about how long it takes me to walk that distance. I do it around 6 a.m. before it gets so......hot. I am planning to call my doctors office and make sure I am doing everything right and if not what I have to do to change. Again thank you for your reply.

Thanks so much Laurel! I really wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone mad. I just wanted to cry when I saw others say they could eat anything when we shouldn't even "know" if we can because we shouldn't have tried those things. You are doing great Laurel! You know I think that I am eating and drinking all day long, but when I look at my food diary, I don't get as much in as I think I am. I have 12 pills and 1 shot in the stomach per day. Plus 3 Calcium and 2 Flintstones and a Sublingual B-12. I drink Fruit 2 O or water with those, and I feel so full after all that, even though I take them throughout the day. I usually have 4-8 ounces of protein shake a day. Then I have cream of tomato or cream of chicken soup (strained), 3-4 oz. twice a day - made with skim milk. I also have 1 - 3.5 oz cup of pudding a day too. I know this can't be as much as I am supposed to have for protein, but I am also having 1 popsicle, 1 - 3.5 oz cup of jello, and 10-12 oz water and 10-12 oz Fruit 2 O. Occasionally I will replace some of the water with 4oz of 100% Pineapple Juice diluted. That's is all I can get in there and last night it was too much for me even. When I layed down, I felt like my juice just didn't want to stay down and it hurt, but it finally did. I just added that up and it didn't make it to 64 oz of liquid or even 50-60 grams of protein, but I am still trying to make each day better. I just got my samples of Unjury and I plan to start adding the Unflavored to my pudding and cream soups. Good for you on your walking. I haven't had the energy to do that yet. i thought I would die just getting my shower. Well, today, I tried to "Wash that gray right out of my hair" and by the time I did that - I was all tuckered out! Hope you had a great weekend! Thanks again for your reply! Cindy

I too am still on the liquid diet. My sugery was june 20. Tomorrow I go on the pureed diet and i have tried cottage cheese and mashed potato just this weekend when i went out with friends. I do not want anything to happen to my pouch and it takes time to heal. I cannot believe that you have tried some of the food that you have. I am still having pain and it is a reminder to me everyday to try to do what the dr told me to do. Wait until your told to go onto the next step, to keep you body safe and live a longer life. I agreee with the last 2 post I read. Everyone keep hanging in there and you'll stay on the loosing side, otherwise you could gain it all back and plus just like before.

You guys are so right. I had a three day meltdown over the 4th of July and ate some mashed potatoes and refried beans - also licked some doritoes. I didn't have any problems but isn't it SCARY that I risked my health for that??? Atleast it could have been an enchilada! Ha! I am totally back on track and haven't cheated since. WE CAN DO IT!!!! Just think how amazing we will all look by Christmas. I can't wait!
