I don't get to start soft foods until next week, but my doctor told me that no more than 4 oz of food at breakfast, lunch, or supper.

I am just starting to experiment with pureeing. The other day I used deli thin turkey breast, a bit of soft cheese, and a little light mayo. I put it in my food processor, and just turned it on. it turned out to be the consistency of applesauce and tasted kind of like cat food! (not that I know what cat food tastes like!) I think I probably pureed it for too long or at too high of a speed. I am thinking of trying an egg salad. - anyone have any good recipies for that? I know that some people don't puree at all- they just chew a lot. I don't think my jaws are strong enough for this! Let me know if you come up with anything that tastes great pureed! Stacy

I just started the pureeing stage on Tuesday the 5th. I made homemade vegetable soup, I grated the meat up to put in the soup, and I put cut up potatos and carrots, I used water, beef boullin and V8 Vegatable Juice as the stock. I really don't have to puree it, I let it cook for quite awhile so the potatos and carrots are really soft. That seems to go down really good. I also have a receipe I like, it tastes like a taco dip. You cook up some hamburger and use taco seasoning in it, Then you put 1/2 cup of the cooked seasoned meat in the blender, 1/2 cup of light or fat free sour cream, 1/2 cup of fat free shredded cheese, 1/4 cup of salsa any kind, blend it all up. My family uses it as a taco dip. I heat it up in the microwave and eat about 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time. My surgeon told me that my pouch will only hold about 1/2 cup at one time. Or 3 to 4 ounces. Hope this helps. Lori Machala

OKAY i moved off puree stage last week but my favorite meal in that stage was: PART SKIM RICCOTTA, PART SKIM MOZZERELLA teaspoon sauce and microwave ...YUMMY! My noodless lasagna and its sooooooo good. I also loved makeing tuna salad, egg salad and chicken salad chopping it up finely in a inexpensive black and decker chopper i got in walmart! all the best, i eat my food in toddler small bowls that i fed my kids in when they were babies.....and stopped when full . GOOD LUCK DARLA lisa

I have been having egg salad a lot. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I use 2 hard boiled eggs, a spoon of light mayo, and some salt & pepper. I have a magic bullet so I put it in there for a few secs and it is nice and creamy. I have also been doing well with oatmeal. I like to add an egg to it right before it is done. You have to scramble the egg and add it slowly or you get chunks of egg, but if done slow it just makes the oatmeal a little more creamy, and you get the extra protein. My new favorite food is ricotta. I either use the part-skim or the lite. I can eat this plain, or add a little cinnamon for something sweet, or spices to make it more of a dinner thing. I like to put it in tomato soup too, or even in the oatmeal. I also went out with a friend this week, and found some great sides at Boston Market. While the calories are a little high, the mashed potatoes and butternut squash were very satisying. Karen

I am on the puree diet too. I just started on Wed. I am 2.5 weeks out now. My surgeon says that I don't have to puree scrambled eggs, tuna fish, broiled white fish, razor thin deli meat, cheese, beans, or shrimp, and of course all warm cereals. So I just chew these up pretty good. I haven't tried eggs yet (I am afraid b/c I have heard horror stories) but the only thing that was hard to chew really good was the shrimp. Everything else chewed up really well, and I haven't had any problems. So of course this is what I have been eating, because I DO NOT want to puree any food, that sounds SO gross! I guess that fruits don't sound too bad pureed, but I just can't do meats pureed. That noodless lasagna sounds good, I think I will try that this week.

I haven't really had to puree anything. I just chew...chew...chew. Don't be afraid of eggs! Add a tablespoon of salsa to your scrambled egg and it helps break it down some how. I read that on a message board and tried it! It was goooooodd! Tuna salad is my fav, too. I eat it with 2 saltine crackers. Good luck!
