I am three weeks out today and I am returning to work on 7/11/05. I am wondering what people are taking to work for lunch. I am having a hard time with variety. I eat a lot of chicken and after about 2-3 oz I am full and can't seem to eat anything else. I am also wondering if anyone has had a problem with a pulling feeling on the left side near the port incision. I am now not only having the pulling but and having a stinging sensation on my skin on the same side from my belly button over to my hip. The pain is pretty intense at times. It is relieved when sitting or lifting my left leg. My doc says that the internal stitch may have caught a nerve and this should pop in a few weeks. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

I had the same pain, went away, don't worry, I have been bringing, tuna and crackers the small can, bite size cheese, a real small salad that I make from home, I put shredd cheese, egg, lettuce,no tomatoes,I get baby bowls, the plastic ones, some grapes, water, rice cooked real soft with a little gravy from whatever I cook for dinner, I don't do chicken, I can't get it down, and I am 3months post surgery, oh fish, mash potatoes.I hate jello, I hate broth, ate too much, I don't do fried foods make me real sick, I have diet gingerale, sometime, it help the gas and upset stomache, can't stand tums, I have been losing so i guess I am doing something, write I have decaf coffee with creme, spinache steamed with onions, it taste real good try it, and it stays down, I have invested in all baby bowls with lids, I just make my own little lunch bag, don't care what nobody thinks, my coworkers, be like that's all your eating, yes and mind your business, nah just jokeing, I want to tell them that, I just explain to them I had surgery and I can not eat alot, I feel good about myself, and I will do whatever it takes to maintain my weightloss, so haters beware, oh read your labels, I am starting to get good at that, you wouldn't believe how much calories is in some of your favorite food.

I returned to work yesterday and I have been bringing a little baby sized cup of chicken salad- I just blended deli chicken with a bit of light mayo in my food processor- (it got a little too mushy so it's like baby food- yuck!) I just eat it out of the container becuase I'm not allowed to have crackers yet. I also have brought a little cup of lowfat cottage cheese. The pain that you are experiencing sounds a bit like mine that I had a while back- it was terrible and sharp and I thought I was dying, but it turned out to be gas! I only felt good in certain positions- it was terrible. But, if you have asked your doctor and he thinks it is something else, it probably is. Just throwing out some ideas! Stacy

I too am experiencing the same pain. I am 3 weeks out and was fine at 2 weeks but now I hurt like I am 3-5 days out. I called the doc and they said as long as i had no fever and the site was not red, swollen or pus-laden they would see me at my appt which is Monday. I seem to be okay sitting or walking... it is severe when I get up or try to sleep. I slept a total of 1 hour last night. : (

Hi Karen, I hope work is going well for you. I do alot of cottage cheese, tuna, and sugar free yogurt. I had a weird sensation where it felt almost like contractions. My abdominal muscle would tighten up and wouldn't relax. My doctor said it was basically like a charlie horse and I needed to stretch more the exercise physiologist showed me how to stretch while sitting in a chair by turning to each side and holding it (like grabbing onto to the arm of the chair) and then raising both hands over my head she said to hold each position for 30 seconds. This pain might not be the same but gentle stretching shouldn't hurt it any. The other issue I had was a seroma developed in one of my laparoscopy incisions. A seroma is just a collection of fluid inside it sounds simple but it hurt/burned like a dickens (it would make me cry) finally it began draining on its own and relieved the pressure. Just some ideas. I hope you feel better soon. Hanan
