2 weeks post op
Hi my name is Pam and I live in cols ohio and i want to know if not wanting to eat I just don't have the feeling that i need to eat anything. I am sure this is normal. I am through when my husband fixes his dinner wanting to eat it but I know that is head hunger. I am two weeks out and still stiff and sore. The top and bottom of my cut is the worse. They have't healed as good and the rest of it and my were my drain was is very sore. Did anyone have trouble sleeping in a bed. I had to sleep in a chair for a week. I still can't sleep to well yet.
YES THIS IS NORMAL..AT TIMES I AM NOT HUNGRY AT ALL...I JUST EAT BECAUSE I KNOW I HAVE TOO.
I ALSO HAD TROUBLE SLEEPING IN A BED. I HAD THE LAP RNY DONE ON 06/14 AND I SLEPT IN THE LAZYBOY FOR 2 WEEKS. IM SLEEPING OK BUT NOT GREAT. I AM A BELLY SLEEPER AND I STILL CAN'T DO THAT YET. MY INCISIONS ARE GOOD BUT ARE STILL ALITTLE SORE. TIMES IT FEELS I AM STRETCHING SOMETHING WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE BED (I SLEEP IN A WATERBED) BUT IT IS GETTING EAISER.
GOOD LUCK ON JOINING US ON THE LOSER SIDE,

Hello all and Pam, I am also 2 weeks post op (RNY, 6/20/05), I know how you feel I also do not feel like eating as well but I do because I have to. I had my first post op Dr.'s appt on the 5th and I have lost 27lbs in 2 weeks. I feel absolutely great. My surgeon and his crew were great. I thank God every day for this gift. Don't worry it will get better. I have not used my CPAP since before my surgery and I am able to sleep in my bed and on my tummy, my sites are completely healed they just itch a little from time to time. Just hang in there.
HI,
I HAD MY LAP RNY ON 6/21/05 IN MEXICALI, MEXICO WITH DR. ACEVES. I HAD A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE. I TOO, AM NOT VERY HUNGRY AT ALL, BUT I DO MAKE MYSELF EAT SOMETHING AT LEAST 3X A DAY. I USUALLY HAVE CHICKEN BROTH OR CREAM OF WHEAT CEREAL. I'M SUPPOSED TO BE DRINKING 3 HIGH PROTIEN SHAKES DAILY BUT CAN'T FIND ONE I LIKE OR CAN TOLERATE (I AM A CHOCOLATE LOVER). WHAT ARE YOU EATING? I KNOW THAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE PUREE STAGE (II) NOW BUT NOT TOO MUCH SEEMS APPEALING TO ME. I DO LOVE SF POPSICLES &HAVE BOUGHT A SNO CONE MACHINE SO I CAN MAKE CRYSTAL LITE FLAVORED SNOW CONES. THEY ARE SOOOO GOOD! AS FAR AS SLEEPING GOES, I TAKE XANAX (AN ANTI ANXIETY MEDICATION) & LIQUID BENEDRYL (FOR HIVES/ITCHING) AND THAT REALLY HELPS! I SUGGEST AMBIEN, LIQUID BENEDRYL, OR TYLENOL PM (CRUSHED & MIXED WITH WATER) TO HELP WITH THE SLEEP PROBLEMS. I SLEEP IN MY REGULAR BED USING MY BODY PILLOW, IT REALLY HELPS YOU GET COMFORTABLE. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Hi ...I sure am glad for all this info. I am 2 weeks post op and seem to be having the same problems as everyone else. Can't sleep so my lazyboy has become my best friend at night. My nutritionist wasn't very clear on what I could have or couldn't have ,so I've had a few problems with the post op diet. I like the Sci-Fit protien shake powder you get at Natures outlet. Has 22 grams of protien in a 8 oz. shake. It comes in several different flavors(cookies and cream, banana icecream, peach sorbet, and my favorite mochaccino delight). It's not that expensive either.I also have a sno cone machine and am stocked up on SF popsicles,SF pudding,SF Jello,Campbells soup to go(you have to strain this ) but at least you get something that tastes like real food.I've noticed myself really checking the sugar content in things. Was told to get some applesauce to help when taking the crushed meds.Anything over 8grams of sugar made me feel bad. But the applesauce does help the meds go down easier. Has anyone had a problem with feet swelling? Can't seem to get mine to go down at all. If you have any ideas let me know.
