Lori, Yes! I too, am experiencing tenderness on my right side.....close to my rib cage.....and there is some swelling. It has subsided quite a bit now but a couple of weeks ago it really gave me fits! Sue

I've had some pain in my abdomen, but it seems to be underneath injection sites. However, I did just get off of the phone with a friend who had the same procedure in December '04 because I was worried too. I'm very sore along the bottom of my ribs on both sides. This didn't really start until 2 to 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I'm wondering if it has to do with sitting upright for longer periods of time (rolls pushing on sensitive skin, etc.) or something of that nature. I'm still taking Loritab once or twice per 24 hours, so that takes care of it for me. Hope this helps! I know I feel better knowing its not just me! Kristie

My tender spot was just to the left of my belly button. My doc said there is a stitch there. It gave a sharp twinge when I moved certain ways. I haven't noticed it the last couple of days. Feeling great --no pain meds since day 3.

I still have tenderness at 4 weeks post-op. It gets better and better everyday. The doc doesn't seem concerned. He said it takes 4-6 weeks to heal. So I'm still normal! HAHA!

I am three weeks post op and went back to work part time today (have to for the money!) I just sit in front of a computer in a nice soft chair, so I thought it would be no big deal. WRONG. By the time I came home, I felt like someone had beaten my entire rib cage with hammers! I was so sore I wanted to cry. I guess we are all more tender than we think. This is a very major surgery and even though I was feeling great this morning, it really takes its toll throughout the day! My tenderness moves around. Sometimes I feel pain on the right side by my ribs, and sometimes on the lower left. I think it's all normal since so many people have it. stacy

I have had pain too. I just saw my Dr. yesterday and she said that was normal because when she operated she did move things aside right under my rib cage, so she said that I may feel pain. She also said it takes a while to recuperate because it was not a small operation. You have to think about it. Your stomach is not at the surface and although you are healing or healed on the outside, the inside is a different story.
