Am I eating too much? I'm not full!

Hi everyone. I am almost 3 weeks post op and was moved to the mushy foods stage on tuesday. The problem is, everything seems to be going down WAY too easy! I can have scrambled egg, cottage cheese, oatmeal, applesauce, peaches and pears. I tend to stick with the egg and cottage cheese because they seem more like "real food"... The Doctor showed me a cup that is the size of my stomach to give me a guide of how much to eat. (15cc's) Well, at every meal I swear I am eating at least 6 of those little cups, even though I am going slowly as directed, not drinking any liquids near meals, etc. I haven't even "felt full" yet- I just stop because I am scared and assume I must have had enough! an example would be- with cottage cheese, the 15cc amount would be about 2 tablespoons, and I can easily eat 1/2 cup or more! I am very afraid that this is going to cause me big time trouble. I haven't even dumped anything yet! Please tell me if this is normal, and if I am eating too much. Thank you all.

Well i am a post op june 1st surgery. WHEN i have cottage cheese i eat 4 oucnes. YOGURT i have had about the same 4 oucnes I know i have trouble eating slo so i just stop eating when i have had a small portion. I am eating more then 2 tablespoons of food and have been since i got on my purees. I am looseing weight and my doctor was very pleased with my progress. NO foods make me sick or ill either. I am amazed. I also can drink 8 ounces of a protein shake.....i spread it out, or try to over an hour ..... I am down 28 lbs in one month my doctor felt that was alot and i was doing great. WIth the pre op lbs im at 54 gone. So i wouldnt worry to much and just stop. I been eating out of toddler bowls that are my sons to be sure my portions are small. IT helps me alot to keep track of my meal! GOOD LUCK! RELAX and enjoy your new tool LISA

I also had a RNY and my post op instructions were to eat (6) 1/2 cup meals daily. I also don't have much of a sensation of being full but was warned by the dietician to always stop at the first sign of being full or 1/2 cup and never go past or else I would run the risk of stretching out my pouch or getting sick. My mother had a RNY several years ago before many doctors involved dieticians and bless her heart she routinely overeats and gets sick. It's a hard habit to break once started. I also use little 1/2 cup containers to help me measure my foods. They're helpful. Hang in there! Hanan

I am a bander and found that the best way to feel full is to eat a banana along with yougert you can't fini**** if you eat 1 bit banana than 1 small spoon of yougert and keep alternating. Good luck I am 4 weeks out at this point. Bud

I'm only supposed to be eating 2 ounces at a time but I sometimes go up to 4 oz. I'd be careful about putting too much pressure on your new pouch. I haven't felt full yet. I just stop anyway. Dawn

I went out and bought a food scale. It showed me that I wasn't eating as much as I thought I was. Thank you for the 4 oz. guideline- I was really probably only eating 2 oz., three times a day- no wonder. When I measure out 4 oz, I get full before the food is gone. Thanks for all of your help everyone! I just panic over everything... Stacy

Just one more thought- my dietician says not to weigh foods but to measure them out(foods not liquids) because you're trying to control the volume of the foods not the weight in order to not stretch your pouch. I'm glad you're feeling better about it anyways! Hanan
