I noticed that some people have eaten nuts and popcorn. I was told that they were BIG no-no's. They can cause an obstruction. Have your doctors said anything?

My doc says no to popcorn and nuts too, but I noticed at the support group alot of people were eating soy nuts. You can get them unsalted or in flavors like barbeque. Some of the doctors believe in no snacks whatsoever. Good Luck on your Journey, Tammy

well nuts are a good source of protein...but popcorn i would think is to high carb!!!! I dont have a label near by to check on that. FUNNY how different surgeons say different things. I know many WLS people who enjoy pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds cause its a snack that lasts........ nad keeps there mouth busy ! LOL

My Doc actually has nuts on the 3rd phase of his diet...which is week 3-4. But they also list "1/4 C. ONLY!!" I tried eating a few nuts but ended up sick the next day....but I also had other issues going on too. Anyway, I have NO DESIRE to try them again....even thinking about peanut butter makes me feel ill. ~Issy

At one of my support meetings they told us about a lady that had died that week from getting bits of a cashew stuck/obstruction. She didn't go to the doctor until it was too late. They said that over the years people have had problems with nuts and popcorn. Some people can tolerate them with no problems but you wouldn't want to be the one that did. Nuts are a BIG no-no on my list of foods to avoid. I love them both so it is going to be hard for me.
