I am so happy to have discovered this board...I did really well the first two weeks, lost 26 pounds (on top of the 17 pre-surgery pounds)..and was soo happy with the weight loss....and sure enough, like so many others I read on this board,,,by body caught on and the loss stopped...I barely lost 3 pounds this week...and It's those 3 pounds where you lose 1 pound one day and then seem to gain it right back the next day...only to lose half a pound the next day...arghhhhhh But it's bee really very helpful reading other posts from people who have the same thing happen....Thank God for these posts and for this board!!!!

I lost 17 lbs before surgery too, it has been 2 weeks since my open RNY. I was readmitted last Wednesday with a bleed and was down another 10. But then when I went to the MD yesterday, I was up 2 lbs! I guess 25 total isn't too bad. In the long run, we will both be losing lots and lots so I guess patience is the word. I agree that reading and occasionally writing these posts has helped so much. God Bless and Happy Losing!!! Jo

My weight loss has been slow too. I'm amazed because I don't think I've eaten over 400 calories yet. However, I havent been great with the walking. I feel weak most of the time and have had bad diarrhea the last four days. Ughhh!!!

Dawn, Welcome to my world! I have had the diarrhea issue from day 4 from surgery! I too am week and I am 4 plus weeks out! I am lucky to get in 300 calories a day. I am getting most of my protein though! I have lost a total of 103.5 pounds since last August! I really didn't expect a fast weight lost because I lost quite a bit prior to surgery......but I have lost 34.5 since June 1st! At 2 weeks out I stopped and didn't lose for almost 5 days....then wham 4 pounds! Now it has been a steady half to a pound a day...... Oh...I have been walking! I am up to 1.5 miles a day. As soon as the temperature drops down to tolerable I will walk twice a day! I didn't gain the weight in a day and I don't expect to lose it in a day but it would be nice! Sue

Wow! Good for you! I'm down 31 pounds including the 7 I lost the two weeks before surgery. I need to start walking more. I typically just walk around the block - LAZY! I'm on summer vacation so I have no excuse for not walking more. I don't start school again until August. However, It's just too darn hot here in Houston unless you walk at night. Actually, I should go now. :P
