Someone plz help me with this!
This morning is a week I have been home, I woke up very sick, I can't seem to get my flintstones down, I hate the taste. I am feeling very helpless here, My hubby is very supportive, but thats just not enough for me right now. I am always hungery. I 'm feeling so weak, and not sure if I am doing something wrong or not. Plz HELP! Kathy
hi kathy! i also had the same trouble with flintstones, but i am just choking them down since i have a huge bottle of them. i think the most important thing right now is that you are getting enough fluids. it took me about a week to start feeling a little better. maybe you just want to call the doc's office to ease your mind. hope you feel better soon!

Thank you for answering me, I have my good days as well as bad. I am starting puree foods tomorrow. Can't wait. lol Hubby is starting to get on my nerves, cause I want too cheat, but he won't let me, I say what can it hurt, one day early. I understand that I must follow doc's orders but it is hard as heck. I have lost 24 pounds in 10 days. That should be enough to make food leave my mind but it isn't. I only had this for health reason's, if I could of had a phyiscal life I could of lost the 60 pounds needed. I guess you can say I'm alittle down today or alot. Thanks again for the reply. Kathy

I was weak for 2 weeks i am now 3 weeks out and getting better with each day-- I was not drinking enough water and when i did they were to large of gulps. Since then i slowly chew my vitiams and I have big honking ones I take 4 times a day, it helped a lot once I got some puree foods, but make sure you are getting all that protein in first. Dont think about cheating when you get an urge come here go to the pictures and watch the before and afters shots always remind me what i am doing this for.....

You need to be drinking water ALL day long or else you will get dehydrated. I was dizzy the first several days after surgery and it was because I was not drinking enough.. Protein is a MUST you need about 70 grams a day.. Carbcountdown milk and unjury chocolate protein powder is the best for me and gives me 32g protein in 1 cup. I tried over $100. in other products used them and they were awful. I will now use Unjury 1 to 2 times a day and get the rest of my protein from food (tuna, cottage cheese, etc)
have u seen a dietition at all? we HAD to see one several times to learn what we had to do/eat for each phase of recovery.
The first 8 days after my surgery were the worst! I was nauseated and tired. I couldn't keep my eyes open...I couldn't get everything in. The taste of the chewable vitamins multiplied by 100 and were so hard to choke down. I know exactly how you are feeling.
It does get better. Starting on the 8th or 9th day, I began to feel a little better and better each day. One of the greatest things my hubby did for me was bring me home a container of won-ton soup (without won-tons) from the chinese place. I only drank 2 oz at a time (for fear that there was too much fat in it) but it was just what the doctor ordered. It was like when grandma orders chicken soup for a cold..... the won-ton broth was just magic. I finally felt like I had some nutrition in me!
If you find that you are nauseated all the time, tell your doc. They can give you something to curb that.
Here's a great big ((hug)). I hope you are feeling better soon.
Take care,
Pam
Pam, Thank you for your reply. I got up feeling really bad, but through out today it has been better. It has been 10 days since my surgery, Feeling better is coming, I can tell. As for the chewable vitiams they are AWFUL! My Hubby and I crushed them all up after a day of trying to get them down, thinking Hey this is going to be easier, BOY was I wrong, they are still nasty as heck. I get to start pureed foods tomorrow, So I am cooking veg soup, I'll let you know just how that taste. Do you know when we get real food? lol Thanks for the HUGS cause these supporters just don't get it at all. kathy
I'm taking Centrum Chewable vitamins. They have an orange taste..but still a vitamin taste. They tasted good to me before surgery, but after...whew...augh.... I take them in between a meal now (eat half the meal, chew vitamin, eat rest of meal). That helps a little.
Be careful with veg soup. Are you going to puree or strain it? I only bring this up to point out that the skin of peas is tough and not easy on the pouch and a kernel of corn could cause a blockage this early on.
Real food?? So many docs have different requirements. They started me on pureed food on my third day in the hospital and I came home on pureed foods. Two weeks out, I was bumped up to soft/mushy/pureed like foods. I'm still on that phase. I think I have to stay on this phase until 8 weeks.
I will tell you what foods I had mild dumping on so far:
-pureed Dinty Moore beef stew
-low carb yogurt
-tomato soup
For me, the magic number in sugars is no more than 6grams in a 2oz serving. I love sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding, baked potatos, mashed potatos, cream of wheat, refried beans, no noodle lasagne, those salisbury steaks that come in an individual boil baggie (chopped up real little with some of the gravy - these are real mushy), vienna sausages (chopped up real tiny with mustard) and won-ton soup (no won-tons). Now I'm getting braver and eating crab dip, just crab meat and soy crisps.
Mary Jo has been posting "WHAT's COOKIN GOOD LOOKIN" each night so we can all post what we ate that day. This is great because we give each other ideas. This is for everyone, no matter what phase they are in. So even if you are eating pureed carrots or just broth, come on in!!
