Anyone else not lose much in their 2nd week after a lap RNY?

I lost 14lbs in my first week, but I started the 2nd diet on day 8 post-op which consists of pureed foods. So, instead of all the liquid/semi-liquid food I had been having, I'm having things like more substantive cream soups, cottage cheese, pureed chicken, larger protein shakes, etc. So, while it seems more logical that I wouldn't lose as much weight as the first week, I wasn't expecting just the 2lbs that I've lost after 4 days into this 2nd week. (I was planning on not weighing in until the end of the 2nd week, but my dad suggested I weigh now b/c he knew I was hoping to lose something like 10lbs and he didn't want me to be too disappointed.) I've been trying to do more walking and activities this week, but I still get so darned weak if I try to do too much. Just walking around in the mall last night wore me out. Anyone else have a similar experience after changing from liquids to pureed?

hi jennifer! i am a fellow patient of dr o'malley's! my surgery was on june 1st and 8 days post-op, i had lost 17 lbs. dr o told me he wouldn't expect me to lose that much over the next month, so i expected the weight loss to slow down. but at the end of the 2nd week, i weighed and gained 2 lbs! don't know if it was muscle, water weight, whatever! i gained! as of this morning, i am only down 20 lbs, but ecstatic! so, in my 2 weeks since i have seen dr o'malley, i have only lost 3 more lbs. try not to let it discourage you. i am trying my hardest not to. like everyone says, if we do everything right, the weight will come off! also, if there's anyway to avoid it, stay away from the scale! we got a few scale junkies here, myself included! much better to wiegh once a week if you can keep yourslef away! hugsssss~mary jo

Jennifer, yes I'm having the same problem being weak, and tired too, I don't know what I can do to ease this off, because I'm doing as much of the protein daily as I can so what do you do? I need to walk to as much as I can I have been trying to walk at least 3 times a wk. You hang in there I know god is going to get us thru this diffcult time. You be bless. Bea
