Hey fellow June 28 losers!!! That is my BIG day too! The only difference is that I am having Open RNY. I am also astounded at how quickly the time has gone by and here we are. I haven't really let it sink in yet I guess because I have not really thought much about it except for pre-mourning for the foods I won't have anymore. I am getting everything I want to eat that I can't have today and tomorrow because I will go on clear liquids on Monday. I am sure it will hit me then because my parents will be here Monday evening from Springfield, MO. I am sure I will post on Monday or Tuesday before I head for the hospital. Good luck to you fellow pre-losers and let's race to the "goal" line! Cindy Lou Who

I, too, have been eating everything in sight for the last several weeks. My wonderful friends have been taking me out for "last suppers". Tonight was Chinese buffet. . I'm all packed and ready to go. See you on the other side : Love, Betsy

Yes Tuesday will be a big day for several of us. Hope you all have a quick recovery and on to the losing trail. I am a bit surprised that some of you are eating like normal just days before surgery. My doctor had me start fluids on June 21, and strongly encouraged me to walk, walk, and walk some more to reduce the fat in the liver to make surgery a bit easier. Although it was a struggle to walk at first, I have stuck to the fluids , 0 fat 0 sugar and getting in 60 plus grams of protein daily as this aids in healing following surgery. After 2 days of doing this and walking 1.2 miles those days I managed to drop 10.5 pounds in 2 days and even went to walking 2 times that day. Believe me I wanted to walk before and found it very painful in the back, knees and sometimes feet. The 1st day was the most painful (1.2 miles), but the second hurt a little less (.5) on the treadmill before work and (1.3 miles) that evening. Today 6-25 I made 2 miles... Monday I can't wait to go to try the doctor's scales to see my progress so far. And today I had a slight pain in my side for like 20 seconds. I just hope I can keep walking this distance and more shortly after surgery. See you on the other side.
