WEIGHT WEIGHT GO AWAY!
ok i truly am trying to be more optimistic and just be happy with myself anf my journey, but it is really hard! i know we are all new to this. i just have a hard time understanding why i lost 17 lbs in the first 8 days and now in the last 2 weeks (15 days to be exact), i have only lost 2 lbs? this is so hard for me, i expected more than this, i feel like something is wrong. i feel great, i eat and drink right, i exercise, i take my vitamins. what is strange is, i am not doubting myself, but i guess i am doubting what has happened to my body and why my tool isn't working. sorry to whine, but when you are only out 3 weeks from surgery and only had one good week, it seems to be pretty alarming. thanks for listening.

ps-sorry you have to hear this again lisa!
Lisa keep on doing what you are doing. One day you will wake up and the pounds will have dropped and you will be so....happy. I am getting ready for my new journey on the 28th and I know I will have moments just like you. I believe it is something we all go through. Don't give up, you will do great!!!!

Hi MARY JO ...Lisa replying here to u....
PLEASE go get a tape measure and also watch your measurements.
WHEN you become a fat burning machine like we are now sometimes
the scale wont register but the tape measure will! ITS really worth it
for moments like your having. THE scale did not move for the last two
days for me (BUT AUNT FLO arrived at my house). My normal is to be up 5 lbs this time and im not so ill take the no loss for a few days for this.
STAY calm....keep eating right like you are. THERE are times our bodies will stall in loosing we have to accept this its our bodies catching up on the changes. BE patient your not doing anything wrong! YOUR meals are perfect.
(((HUG)))) and start takeing your measurements for those moemnts when the scale wont move!
LOVE
LISA

I am feeling the same way I had surgery on the 2nd and I lost 17 pounds the first week and 1 pound since then. I went exploring and found subjects on Hibernation syndrome so I am thinking we are going thru this-----
""Hibernation syndrome"
Two or three weeks after Gastric Bypass, the patient's body "figures out" that it is not going to be receiving its accustomed calories for a long time. In about half of our patients this results in what we call the hibernation syndrome, where one's body falls back on its built-in evolutionary response to a low food supply - the person just wants to rest and be as still as possible until the food returns. Energy level drops through the floor, and the individual can become emotionally labile (tearful or irritable). There can also be a component of depression caused by the loss of the previous relationship with food. This syndrome can be unnerving for patients because it comes at a time when they are just beginning to get over the pain and other effects of surgery - they believe they should be feeling better but they just want to curl up and go to sleep. The good news is that this is not a dangerous or unusual thing, and will resolve in about 2 weeks when the body figures out how to use fat as its main energy source.
donna...i love you! you may have actually found hope for both of us! boy, if i haven't been tearful and irritable the past couple weeks! i hope this is true and i hope it does only take a couple weeks for our bodies to figure this thing out! you have shed a whole new light on this situation for me, thank you so much!

Sister scale junkie checking in....
My scale doesn't move for a few days, then it drops, then it doesn't move for a few day, then it drops....I have noticed that it drops more when I'm faithful to my walking.
BUT what I really wanted to tell you....
(you might think I'm crazy...but here goes)
When I was doing Atkins, I used the Ketostix to check my urine for the ketones that told me that I was burning fat. Well, I still have a bottle of those things. When my scale isn't moving, I use the Ketostix to reassure myself that I AM BURNING FAT. I get the darkest color on the strip. This little thing keeps me motivated that it's gonna go down sooner or later.
(do you think I'm crazy???)
I just read the other post about hybernation syndrome....that is COOL to know!
heck no i do not think you are crazy! i want some of those strips dammit! i really need to stay faithful to my walking. today we went swimming, i walked around for about 20 minutes and then swam across the pool 10-12 times. so i didn't walk/treadmill. i might go down on the bike for a little bit before bed, maybe not, the pool did wear me out today!
soooo, where can i get those strips?
Wow! You are doing great if you can swim across the pool. I don't think I could do that just yet. My tummy is still so tender...I can really feel it when I stretch or reach.
I find the strips at Giant pharmacy, CVS, any drug store...anywhere they sell diabetic supplies. You do not need a prescription for them. They are called KETOSTIX.
