11 days postop and I'm feelin' fine!!!!
How are all my fellow junebugs doing?
I feel really good. I went yesterday to my one week f/u appt with my surgeon and they took the dreaded staples out and told me I didn't have to wear that awful binder anymore!!!! YEAHHHHH! He also released me to start getting out of the house again, which is a big deal. Staying at home all day long was driving me nuts!!!
I am no longer on any pain medicine and I am able to tolerate walking around and such. I am back to work, but I work from home as a medical transcriptionist, so it is VERY sedentary work, one of the reasons I ended up this size. I still get tired more easily than before, but it is gradually getting better.
I'm never hungry, although when I smell a favorite food I do go a little crazy for a taste. But I have been good. On Father's Day, I cooked my hubby his (and my) favorite meal - Steak, baked potato, butterfly shrimp, rolls, and a salad. It smelled soooooo good!!!! I took one bite of his steak, chewed it up and enjoyed all the flavor of it, and then spit it out! That's what my doc said to do when the cravings get too much. It was heaven, and it totally satisfied my craving.
The only thing going on now that's really bugging me is the oozing and drainage from my incision. I have stained already 3 shirts because of it. Course, hopefully, I won't be needing to wear those shirts, but still! It's embarrassing. It reminds me of nursing mothers! I sure hope the drainage stops soon. Any input on that would be GREATLY appreciated.
On Friday (the 24th) I go back to the doc and hopefully he will clear me to drive (FREEDOM!!!) and also they will advance me to full liquids from the clear liquids I have been on so far. I can't wait!!!! Popsicles are good, but they are ever so monotonous at this point!
So far I have not been nauseous or vomited at all. I have had some gas, but nothing too bad. My bowel habits are a bit disgusting, but that is mostly due to my diet and the antibiotics I am on, at least that is what the doc says.
Overall, I feel great!!!! I have lost 16 pounds so far and I am thrilled at that! I would love to hear how you're all doing!
HUGS!!!
Life is pretty normal for me. TODAY i am 3 weeks post op and doing fine on my foods. I get all my liquids in and feel fine. I sleep perfectly now at night. ANd im working too.

Hi...glad to hear you are doing so well. I had surgery 6/7 and am doing good also. I had surgery out of town so after my 3 day hospital stay, I had to stay in a hotel for 1 week. I loved getting those staples out and losing that damn binder too!! I am still having quite a bit of loose stools but it is improving. My dr. has me introducing a new "Food" every two days. Today is low fat shredded cheese. I am back to work for a couple of hours a day. I don't know how much weight I have lost cuz I am trying to wait until my 1 month post op visit to weigh in. I feel so fortunate to be post op finally and to have made it through surgery without complications. As for your drainage, I haven't had any!! Sorry!! Continued good luck to you...hope we all keep in touch. Love and best wishes to everyone, Diane
Thanks for the reply!!! No drainage!??!! You are sooooo lucky!!!! Mine seems to be a little river of its own, but still I can't complain. I just have to keep changing the dressing and thanking God if this is the worst thing I have to deal with 12 days postop, right?
I'm glad to hear how great you're doing. You get to eat real food? You really are lucky!!! I have to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks (just 2 more days), and then I get to progress to full liquids for, I think, another 2 weeks, and then on to soft mushy foods, and then finally onto regular foods. After nearly two weeks of liquids, I am sooooo ready for something else. Still, I won't cheat, partly because I don't want to do anything to risk my health, partly because I really want this tool to work, and partly because I tell myself that I didn't go to such an extreme as surgery only to cheat myself out of the benefits of it!
18 pounds down as of today!!!! YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!
