Finally back from surgery (June 10)

I just got home from surgery today. My open RNY was on June 10th. I was expecting to stay 4 nights, but stayed 8 nights instead. I am so glad to be home and and not really in any pain. I mostly just have some discomfort from this nasty g-tube hanging out of my stomach. I am already 15 punds lighter. Wow! I will post more later. Thanks for all of the support!

STACY, WHY IN THE HOSP. SO LONG??? I AM HAVE SURGERY ON MONDAY AND I FOUND OUT FRIDAY IT WILL BE OPEN MOST LIKLY BECAUSE I HAVE A COLOSTOMY. WHY A G TUBE ??? DID YOU DO OK WITH NOT EATING I THINK I MAY BE HUNGERY??? GOOD LUCK YOU LOSER.

Well, I have a surgeon who is very thorough and who takes lots of precautions. I had severe withdrawal from the Morphine pump, coupled with an allergic reaction to another pain medication. It was not fun. That only lasted one day and after that I was fine. I stayed extra days because of that one bad day, plus, I had a lot of diarrhea. He wanted to make sure that I didn't get dehydrated after I was sent home, so he kepts me several days extra so he could regulate my fluids. I have not been hungry, but I also do not every feel "full". But I decided that I probably do not know what full really feels like. Congrats on your surgery tomorrow. I know you are excited. You will do great!!

I know how it is to have the G-tube ive had mine for two weeks now and it will finally be coming out tomorrow...wahoo...had to hear you are back home but sorry for the longer stay. Jess

The g-tube grosses me out big time, but I am glad that my surgeon takes extra precautions. I guess most people don't get the g-tube. I am supposed to call his office tomorrow to see if they can fit me in on Thursday to get it out. If not, I will have to wait until the 1st week of July, because he's going out of town to a conference. I am crossing my fingers that I get in on Thursday!!!!! Congrats on getting yours out!!!
