June 15th Open RNY... Any one else had surgery that day?

I had open RNY on the 15th and came home yesterday (17th). I am feeling pretty good. Some pain on rising and lying down but when I just sit, I don't feel a thing. I am trying so hard to get all the liquids in I need. I didn't make it yesterday but think I will get them in today. So far so good. I walked for 5 minutes this morning but know I need to do more. I will have to get out there this afternoon. I am amazed at the feeling of fullness. I ate a breakfast of 1 oz. of jello, 1 oz. of soy milk and 1 oz of Diet Snapple and felt like I'd just ate Thanksgiving dinner-and that was with that required time between 1/2 oz. of liquid! I have had 2 loose stools, they say that is normal. How are others doing? Thanks, Jo

Hi Jo, I also had RNY on the 15th (lap). Feeling pretty good, also. Having the same symptoms as you: can't get in the liquids, feeling full, and loose stools. Yes, this is all normal. Plus, I'm very gassy. Congratulations on making it to the losing side!!! Steph

Hi Steph!! Thanks for the fun welcome. I finally got all my liquids in yesterday, and I am feeling pretty darn good. Gassy, yes, full, yes, and loose stools. I am also sick of sleeping on my back but I agree, none of this seems to be abnormal at all. Thanks for the congrats. Congrats to you too!!!

I had lap on Wed. but I came out of surgery vomiting blood. I threw up for two days so everything got behind. I got to come home today though. I am really sore at the incision but I am doing well other than that. I hope I don't have any complications. I just want to breeze through this thing. I haven't lost an ounce at this point but my doc assures me that is becuase they have pumped me with fluids. I am having trouble getting in all the requireds also. It is something you really have to work at, huh? Good luck... you are doing awesome!

Candy, Thanks for your message. I am sorry you had problems just after but it sounds like things are looking up now, huh? I can't believe how well I feel considering the big change this surgery has made on my body. I am going to try to be thankful for every day. After all, we are on the losing side now!!!! Jo

Hi Jo, I had lap RNY on the 15th. Got home on Friday. Still have a drain in, but will get that out on Thursday. I'm sip, sip, sipping and walk, walk, walking and of course passing gas. LOL Have no real appetite, but am forcing the water and protein in. Good luck and keep in touch. Jenny 308/258/??/?? highest/preop/now/goal
