What do I need at the hospital?

I was told to take very little to the hospital. You cannot shower, so you don't need that stuff. You're not going to feel that well, so I hear that it is better to wear their gowns. I was told that because we cannot eat and only drink very little that we need to bring chapstick. I'm bringing slippers, a robe, panties, (cause they take you for tests and you don't want your tushee sticking out) a stuffed animal to cuddle, and that's about it.

I didnt do much while in hospitol ...never got out of my night gown....but i did need the lip balm...and i liked to try to do something with my hair even though after a few days showerless it was hopeless my hair. I brought my slip on sneakers too for my walking time which was great....espeically for all my potty trips, which was constent due to the IV fluids going into me.
I also brought prepaid phone cards for phone calls as in my hospitol i could only make very local calls from the hospitol area and even my home was out of the calling zone...so i was glad i had the card to call some friends to let them know how i was feeling.

The only thing I used at the hospital was my toothbrush and toothpaste. I wasn't allowed to use my robe because of the IV.....they will give you a a gown to wear backwards. They gave me the gripper slippers..so didn't use mine. I brought magazines to read and never did...so my advise....take you toothbrush and toothpaste oh...and deodarant too! Chapstick if you want but I was too doped up to care!
The time in the hospital flies by and your needs are few!

I was not able to wear the robe I took with me because of the IV nor the new slippers I bought for the hospital (they gave me a pair of the gripper sock slippers because you could keep them on at all times).
Pretty much -- whatever you think you want of yours...like a toothbrush, toothpaste, charged cell phone and back-up charger with all of your numbers pre-saved in them to call while in your room and your wanting to reach out and talk with others).........................deo is a must....if you don't have chap stick for your lips...the hopsital can provide some but you may wish to have your own.
Wear clothes in that you can wear home. Be ready to wear their gowns, etc. I did have my own fancy gown that I wore on the last day there - -just to make me feel better - - but could had easily done without it if needed.
Take as little as you can with you and then you'll have a better chance of getting it all back home where it belongs.
