Hey!!! I'm doing great!!! I've lost 10 pounds as of this morning!!!! My incision is healing slowly but surely. I've had some drainage and oozing, which the doc assures me is normal, and I tire fairly easily, especially in the heat, and I still need help with transfers (getting up from a prone position, etc), but otherwise, I'm doing great! I even washed my hair today, which was a major pain in the butt, but I did get it done, with only a little assistance. I haven't even needed any pain meds since last night, so I'm really glad of that. Hating the binder, though! I keep it on, because I know it's doing me good, but it makes my skin itch and yuck, you know? I think the hardest thing for me right now is that when I walk I feel like I can't stand up very straight, like I'm hunched over or something. Do any of you feel that way? I wonder how long it lasts. I'm looking forward to Monday, when I should be getting my staples out. Haven't regretted this yet. How about all of you? Luv Back

I had a really great day! I walked this morning with my husband, puttered around the house, made lunch for the kids, then dinner later on. I walked again and came home and cleaned the kitchen. I am tired but not overtired. I feel like I had a lovely day. Yay!! I got a lot of protein down today and lots of water. And my nurse told me that she did not want me wear the binder but if I needed it to go ahead but not for more than a week so that my stomach muscles would get stronger. I didn't wear it for more than a day. Everyday gets better! Who'd have thunk that housework and cooking would make me happy?

I know the feeling about walking hunched over, it is still very painful .My surgeon still has me on the clear liquid diet until next Thursday. then I will get to get an egg. I am walking and getting in fluids . I never did get a binder tho. I had a drain taken out yesterday and I was ready to fight the nurse thing she was taking out the wrong one......I thought the one with less drainage would come out first.........WRONG!!! That nurse knew what she was doing and I was wrong ,but don't expect me to admit that very often... I have one more drain and the staples that will come out next Friday. They also weighed me yesterday and I weighed a pound and a half more than when I stated. I am holding so much fluid and will be so glad when that states to leave my system..one good thing so far is that my blood glucose has been very good and I am hoping all continues to be good. I do not regret my decision a bit..... but I do want to say that whoever says we took the easy way out.....I would like to give em a kick in the PATOOT. Tracy

I just got home today. I had open RNY. I had a very bad experience in the hospital last Wednesday with an allergic reaction to pain medicine and severe withdraw from morphine. I am doing good now, though. Much love to you, too.

Well since I asked, I guess I should fill you guys in on how I am doing. Had a bit of a scare, but doing better now. Right now, they are still not sure what happened so I'll try and tell you the events that occurred. They operated on me Friday morning (7:30) and I seemed to be doing VERY well. So on Saturday afternoon they sent me home. I got home around 4:00 p.m. By 8:00 p.m. my mother felt my head and said I felt warm. She took my temp, Whoaaaaa! 103.2 degrees. Called surgeoun and he said to come on in. After Xrays, Cat Scan, ultrasound, and loads of blood work, they found that my liver was enlarged and that the enzymes (not sure of spelling) in my liver were high. I also was low on potassium. They tossed up a few ideas as to why, but are still not sure. Still waiting on more test results although I am feeling better. Whatever it was seem to take care of itself. Thay kept me until Tuesday. I feel GREAT right now. No Regrets. So far, I've lost 10 lbs. YAHOO!!!!!
