I'm scheduled to weigh in with my doctor's office 6/16 to make sure I haven't gained any weight since my first appointment (actually have lost 14 lbs.) Then I have a pre-op appointment with the hospital. Can someone tell me what exactly happens at that appointment? Thanks, Diana

My pre-op at the hospital was Friday. I think what is ordered varies from doctor to doctor. Mine was bloodwork, an EKG, chest X-ray and a consult with the one who is putting you to sleep. Also a medical history as well. Medicines you take and the works. Hope this helps. My surgery is Wednesday, June 15. Good luck, Jenny

At my hospitol pre op appointment i had the following done: ALL blood drawn for numerous blood tests cardio gram lots of health history questions chest X ray..... this infomation was sent to my PCP whom i had to have review the data and fax his approval for my surgery based on that information. At my doctors pre op appointment: i had to sign many releases.....and go over all my post op insturctions. He checked my weight as he required pre op weight loss and left clear for last min. questions. THIS appointment was noted my blood pressure soared up and i had to see my regular doctor for calming meds and high blood pressure with post op i am off... OF course every one hospitol and doctor work differently this was my routine and im from LONG ISLAND, nY ...good luck

Diana -- My pre-op appointments lasted all day from 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM. My surgeon is VERY thorough but it was a good experience and I got very comfortable with the hospital staff -- they drew me a little map in admissions showing me where to go and what to do and in what order -- sort of like a scavenger hunt. Just bring a book with you for the waiting time and you'll be fine! Hope this helps! Laurel
