Issy, I am so very sorry that you are still in pain. I had lap on tues the 7th and I am almost pain free, not something you want to hear. The gas was the biggest problem for me. Beef broth and coffee helped my bowels wake up the best. Also the easiest way for me to pass the gas was to sit on the potty and wait for a round of gas to hit and then just push like the dickens, it realy helped me. I am truely sorry that you are still in sooo much pain, I think that the open verses the lap has a lot to do with the level of pain. If you need anything just e-mail me and I will try to help.

HI Issy,
I had open RNY surgery on monday and still have some discomfort. Yes gas can cause alot of pain. But if it doesnt seem right call your dr. I had to be rushed to the ER today because of major pain and when i seen my surgeon he know what it was and fixed it and im feeling so much better now.

Ouch -- pain.
I'm right behind you. My surgery is in the morning.
I've heard many people say that they were not able to get off the pain meds the first couple of weeks....which is why we need to be off work and not work around the house for awhile.
Ouch -- pain.
I sure hope you get feeling better soon and see that it was all worth it (and I hope that for me too).
I had open RNY on June 1st.
I think alot of the pain has to do with gas...could be constipation too. Another thing is that we just had major surgery. Someone cut through our skin, fat, muscles....etc.... So we are SORE! Now we find out just how many things we use those muscles for!! I felt sooooooo much better after my staples came out. Apparently, they poke you when you move and that hurts.
I came home on the 4th and took my last pain pill on June 7th. It was after I was off the pain meds that I started to feel human again. There was a couple of days in that first week where I was just purely depressed about the pain, discomfort, lack of mobility, and loss of food. I cried my little eyes out.
Now, it's June 12th and I walk a mile easily, can sleep in my own bed, and feel much more human. I still need to catch a nap because I wear out easily...but much progress has been made. Today, I took my kids to the park to play. It was great.
Oh, I also wanted to tell you that when I walked, I would stop for a minute to get the gas out and that worked real, real well.
I hope you feel better soon.
Take care,
Pam
