June 10th is Coming!! A Silly Question.

While right now I'm not really that nervous about the surgery itself I find myself really nervous about not being able to eat the foods that have bcome a part of my life (hamburgers, pizza, cheese omlettes, etc.). I've avoided the "last supper syndrome" this week but the tought of a liquid only diet for a period of time followed by small potions of yogurt, cottage cheese etc. dioesn't register with me yet. Are these thoughts normal? Will the surgery result in a decreased appetite? I'm excited about a new way of eating but really can't imagine going cold turkey on all my typical meals. I've failed at diets before so I'm not sure why this attempt to eat healthy will be different. Any thoughts would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I have no advice for you as I am pre op also (June 13th is my date) However, I can tell you that I relate! I have been overweight my ENTIRE LIFE! I have been on diets since I was a LITTLE kid. I have truely dieted myself into super morbid obesity! Food has become my drug of choice and to go as you say COLD TURKEY is truely something that I cannot imagine! But as my surgeon put it, the risks of the surgery are less than the risks of contining life like this! HMMM. Good Luck to you next week.
