June 1 2005 Post Op is doing Great!
Hi Everyone!
My name is Beth Anderson. I am Allen Anderson's wife. Allen asked me to enter a post on the message board to let you all know that he is doing very well post op. He had his Gastric Bypass yesterday afternoon- it was done Laproscopically. Originally, it was scheduled to be an open bypass, but because Allen has made such a tremendous effort in the last 18 months to reduce his weight ( down 131 lbs in 18 months to prepare for surgery), Dr. Juarez was only too happy to offer him the Laproscopic approach.
Allen had a bit of difficulty post op waking up from the anesthesia, so his surgeon decided to admit him to Intensive Care overnight for close monitoring, but he was able to be transferred to the regular floor by 4 PM today, and he was walking the halls one hour later.
Everyone at the hospital from the moment we arrived yesterday including right up until the present time has been just great about keeping Allen and I informed about the details- especially during what seemed like the agonizing wait while he was in surgery.
We have had the opportunity to chat with some of the ladies and gentlemen who also had surgery Wednesday. We met them and their families during patient teaching on Tuesday. Everyone is walking the halls and feeling well.
Allen has been so blessed and encouraged by the support he has received from everyone here in preparation for his operation. I know he will be eager to post a message himself to Thank You all and share his experiences so that he can help others on their path. Thank You everyone and remain triumphant on your own journeys!
