Crisis!
Hi there! I'm in a bit of a funk because my surgeon's office got hold of me late Friday afternoon to say that my pre-op bloodwork came back with an elevated white cell count of 16.1 -- wonder what it should be? I was able to get hold of my sweet primary dr because I have his cell phone number -- a benefit of living in small town USA -- I might have a weak bladder infection because over the past 2 weeks -- I've been getting these twinges of frequency and urgency but then it goes away for days at a time -- what's up with that? He decided since it could be bladder to put me on a megadose of cipro XR for 7 days -- I'm on day 3 today. He wants to see me on Thursday. The bottom line from my surgeon's office was that I need to have a normal white blood cell count to have surgery on June 10! Woudn't that be the pits to not have surgery because my body has some undiagnosed infection! In the last 6 weeks -- I've been on 20 days of Augmentin and 10 days levoquin and I still have an elevated white blood cell count!!! I was originally being treated for chronic sinusitis and then for general fatigue and tiredness but now I feel ok except for the occasional bladder twinges. Has anyone else run into this problem? I could use everybody's thoughts and prayers! June 10 is getting closer and closer! Laurel
This sounds like my kind of luck! In fact, I haven't gotten my tests back just yet. We'll see. As far as anything else goes, this may be a blessing in disguise. I have known several people who by way of pre-op testing, have found other undetected problems that would have otherwise gone untreated. Try to put yourself in God's hands. I hope it all goes your way, but remember sometimes our way is not what is best for us.
Try to be patient. (I know that's REALLY hard). Wait till Thursday when you see him. I don't like the fact that you have been on such strong antibiotics all month and still aren't over whatever it is. They need to take blood and do a sensitivity test to see what antibiotic your infection is sensitive to. I hope it all goes smoothly!
