Advice and happy thoughts!
Hi Everybody!
I've been posting individually, but thought I'd make a general post here. I am a year post-op and it's been great! I wanted to share three things that made my recovery easier:
1: I was nervous when being released from the hospital on the 4th day that the liquid meds wouldn't take care of my pain. I mentioned it to the nurse and they gave me a pain patch that I wore for 5 days. This took the edge off and I didn't need it after the five days. In fact, I was off all pain meds much sooner than I expected!
2: I was very glad to have a recliner for the first couple of weeks. My need to get to the bathroom was fairly urgent at first and it was much easier to get out of a recliner than it would have been to get out of bed!
3: Walking was the best cure-all I found. It helped when I was aching, had gas, or just going stir crazy! It will speed your recovery and help you digest.
I hope all of you have as wonderful an experience as I have had. My whole family is healthier now and ALL my co-morbidities are gone. I'm 5-5" and weigh 134 lbs!. Nine more pounds and I'm at goal! Please know all of you are in my prayers. I'm so happy for you!
Mike,
You are an inspiration! Congratulations on your success! One year and only 9 pounds to goal..that is just awesome...that is my dream!
Thanks for the tips! That's a great tip on the pain meds in the patch form. I didn't even think of that! I've heard the liquid pain medicine is horrible tasting. I'm gonna ask about the patch.
