Hospital stay
Hello All! June 7th is getting closer and closer...I'm very excited! Anyway, My aunt just had open-RNY 9 months ago and she told me not to bring ANYTHING to the Hosp....Of coarse I'm going to..lol...so much for advice. She said you can't wear your own PJs cause they want to check your incision so much and she was so out of it the first couple of days she didn't need anything else. I'm bringing a robe and slippers for walking the halls, a nice big dress for going home, tooth brush, toothpaste, hair brush, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant..and some make-up. I HATE hospital toiletries...if you don't mind them I guess you really don't have to bring anything. I was going to bring a CD player and some magazines but I don't want to bring anything I won't need so I'm going to set them aside and if I'm feeling board and need something to do my hubby will bring them up to me. I wish everyone luck and a speedy recovery!

My sis just had her surgery a couple of months ago. Before she went, she and I went out shopping for comfy clothes for her to wear in the hospital. She didn't wear any of them in the hospital...she wore the gowns. She DID wear PJ's and her slippers home because she was so swollen. Her advice to me was: slippers, undies, a comfy outfit to GO HOME in, chapstick, your own deodorant (for some reason the hospital stuff doesn't work as good), a hairbrush, your own pillow (if you are finicky like that) and something to read. The hospital gives you a tooth brush and toothpaste.
NOW...having said all that...what did I pack??
Picture of my family
Carmex (my favorite lip stuff)
slippers
PJs (just in case)
undies
hairbrush
hairdryer (to attempt to feel human)
curling iron (same as above)
deodorant
maxi pads
botttle of water (for the long drive home - in hopes I can drink some!!)
What do I still need:
reading material
get my prescription for Prevacid solutabs filled and bring it
I figure maybe I can wear my pj's in the hospital....maybe not. But if I could, I would feel more myself. If I have to wear jam-jams home, fine. If I have to wear slippers home, fine. I do know that I will swell up. I've had five children naturally and swelled up like a tick every time. It must be those IVs...but my legs usually swell up so bad that I can barely bend them at the knee....so in my mind, I'm ready for that. It will encourage me to walk - to get the swelling to go down.
I think that's it!!
