RNY on 06/09/05 with
Hi, all I am new to this site, I am having my RNY on June 9th, I am a bit scarred but more excited for the change in my life that I so desperatly need. I do have a question. I am seeing some people are on a pre-op diet is this normal??? My doctor has not said anything about this to me, nor has his office staff or my pre-op cordinator, am I missing something? I have an appointment with him this friday, so I will ask him, however I was not sure if this was normal?? Congrats to all that have been approved for surg, I know what you have went through to get here.... I just can't wait to be on the other side.............

My surgery is scheduled for June 13th and I too saw alot of postings about pre-op diets. I called and asked my dr.'s nurse and they said my doc doesn't require it just light eating the few days before surgery. I have been kinda making my own preop diet of watching fat, carbs, caffine and getting in the habit of loading up on protien. Even though my Dr. doesn't require it I'm figure it can't hurt. I had also researched that low fat can help to shrink a fatty liver making surgery easier. Has anyone else heard of that? Good luck to all of us.

Well it appears that we share a date my is also on june 9th I have been on a pre op diet for 3 months that my insurance requires but my dr requires one day of only liquids, I would defidently ask your dr when you see them. Congrats on your surgery date and good luck on your surgery.

My doctor requires NOTHING, except no food or drink after midnight. I am going in June 13th. However, I have read, in "Exodus from Obesity, a guide to long term sucess after WLS" {A MUST READ} that you should avoid high fat foods to keep you liver from being to fatty. That is correct. It can hinder surgery. & The last thing we want to do is make this risky surgery any more dangerous! Good Luck to you all!
