Its Official Im a 5K Walker
I am not a runner but it has been a goal to be a great walker. When Keri (scrappin gal) put out the challenge to us to get moving I accepted it.
Yesterday I copleted my first 5k. First of many I hope. It was a little hard because I had sprained my ankle about a week before but I was determined to do it.
Thanks to everyone on here that continues to inspire and support me.

YAYYYYYYYYYYY Monica~ Woo HOOOOOOO!!!! I'm so thrilled for you!!! I didn't know about your ankle! Yuck, that must have been painful. Thank goodness the course was pretty flat, huh? I did my first 5K exactly a year ago~ I was in pain after it, but also emotionally overwhelmed at finishing it. Did you feel the same way?
Let me know if you decide to do another one, would love to join ya!
Bask in the accomplishment today!
Hugs,
Kerri
Kerri that is exactly how I felt. I got a little teary when i finally saw the finish line come into view. The ankle is fine just a bit of cramping behind one thigh but I expected that since my legs are two different lengths there is always some challenge. I definitely plan to do more. No stopping me now. Please keep me posted on any coming up expecially for charity. If you get any links please pass then along. Would love to do more. Do you know how to find out your time. I think it took me about an hour but since i started in the third wave and forgot to look at the time when i actually started i would like to see what the official time was.
Thanks for the encouragement to move and congrats on your great job yesterday.
Monica
Hey Monica that is great!! I did my first 5K walk when I was over 300 pounds. I did it in just over an hour. I remember the same feeling when I got to walk over the finish line. You did it even with a sprained ankle. Many kudos to you!!!
Yes, Kerri is indeed an inspiration to us all. I have never attempted doing a 13 mile walk in one day. YIKES!! That's got to be hard on the feet and joints.
Thanks for sharing your inspirating success story!
Hugs,
Lucy
Wow Monica! That is so great. I hope when the weather clears here, that I too can start a program. I would love to actually have a specific goal. All we have here for marathons that I know of is in the fall. It is a big one though that people from all over the world come too. It is called The Crim.
Our bariatric support group trains to walk in it, maybe this year I could do it!
