Gastric Bypass Patient - Checking in & miserable
Hello my friends. I am NOT doing well today.
I woke up this morning in pain and with a "full" feeling in my pouch - that feeling like you are getting ready to violently hurl..... but I never did.... then, I got baaaaaddddd abdominal cramps and wondered if I was coming down with food poisoning... but nothing happened and the cramps went away as quick as they came on. But that feeling in my pouch has lingered all day long.
I also noticed the back of my tongue was kind of black this morning... the last time that happened was after getting a tooth pulled and it was from blood in my mouth. But this time I didn't have any blood in my mouth - so then I started worrying that maybe this could mean I have an ulcer..... then I thought maybe it's from taking antibiotics.... so I tried not to worry.
FIRST thing, hubby wanted to go out to breakfast so we could have some "special" time together. He rarely does this - so I knew I had to go. So we went to Bob Evans and I ordered a scrambled egg and a toasted english muffin. I ate about half the egg and half the english muffin. I felt better for about an hour - then the feeling came back - worse. So I had to run out for wrapping paper and grocery shopping. I stopped at Starbucks and got my usual Venti decaf sf vanilla latte - which ALWAYS feels so good on my tummy - but today - DAGGERS! I took it with me through the grocery store and by the time I left the grocery store I could barely stand up straight. By now, I was thinking of the emergency room.
I got to thinking about what might happen at the emergency room and decided I wasn't up for all that. Our local hospital is NOT equipped to deal with gastric bypass patients. Plus, if I had to go into surgery while still coughing up all this crap in my lungs - I don't think that's a good idea. I need more healing in that area. Maybe this is just me digesting something that didn't sit well - or maybe a gall bladder episode that will pass in a couple of days. I don't have any coffee ground vomit - I don't have black stools. So - I just layed down for a bit.
I ate a couple of wheat crackers with mjack cheese slices on it - and that seemed to help again - for about an hour - and then it was back again. I made dinner anyway. For dinner, I ate about 4 forkfulls of spiral ham, 2 TBSP of green beans, and a tablespoon of rice. But that didn't feel good at all. So I laid down again.
I know something is not right. I have lost my appetite all together and it hurts. I'm just so upset about it. This is not good timing. New job, Christmas, still getting over this cold.... augh. I'm gonna give myself a little more time to deal with this. If it's my gallbladder and it behaves like past episodes - it'll be gone in a day or two. If it's an ulcer, it will continue - there would be weakness, black stools or coffee ground vomit. If it gets any worse at all, I'll give in and go the the emergency room.
I'm going to bed and praying that it's just an ugly turd working it's way down from way up high or something simple like that.
Hugs all,
Pam
Pam!
Get your ass to the doctor!! It sounds like an ulcer to me and I am the expert in that dept. I did not have coffee ground vomit or black stools and I had a HUGE ulcer that was excruciating! I had to have a scope to see it and then meds for the h pylori and acid reducers. I feel much better now. Get moving girl, NOW!!

Pam,
It's Monday morning and I'm just checking the site...I hope by the time you have read this you are feeling much better...I agree with the other posting, you need to get to a doctor, if you have not already done so, this sounds serious...It is not a good idea to put up a front that you are OK when you are not...
