Hi all...well I saw my doc on thursday to have the stitches removed and the news I got was not great. He had to remove the entire cartelege from my hip, so I no longer have any cushion there. This means that over time (and we don't know the timeline) I will have wear on the joint and will no doubt require a hip replacement. I'm only 46 (will be 47 in Oct) so to do one now would not be good, as they only last 10-15 years. The doc said that he has it seen it take weeks, months or even years for severe arthritis to progress, but there is no telling. He said he will be keeping a close eye on me for years. He also told me that if I get any clicking or popping of my left hip joint to tell him immediately. So, this is not going to take weeks to heal, more like months. In the meantime I am not allowed to run, jog or even walk at a fast pace. No squatting and especially loaded (lifting something) squatting for at least 4-6 months. I cannot do anything that would put any excess stress on that joint. Tammy and I are going to look into the Y for a swimming program as this is probably the best exercise for me now. Thanks for your notes of support and all the love you have sent my way. Love, Debra

Gee jDebra, I am sorry to hear that! It is hard dealing with the blows we had done to our bodies with the weight. I too have old aches and pains that I deal with especially my knees. I hope you heal quicker than they think and will pray for you. Lots of love, Wendy

I'm sorry to hear the Debra. If it makes you feel any better, me mother was able put her hip replacement off for several years. However, when she got up to walk, she couldn't always move right away. Best of luck to you!! Please keep us advised. Sharyn

Hi Debra~ I hope that you will be able to go without the hip replacement for a long time! Swimming is great exercise, so I hope that it will help strengthen that area for youi! Hugs, Kerri
