Good afternoon my fellow Junebugs! Just came back from the plastic surgeon's office for my first consult. It went very well. He's looking at a lower belt lipectomy. First, we talked and I asked questions. Then I had to get totally naked; he gave me a paper gown, but then off it came! Yikes, I bared my wrinkly tanned and untanned body for him, exposing everything... At first I was embarrassed but then I didn't care. He took pictures for the insurance company. I had to lift my apron and there it was my private parts! He said I need work on that as well. I knew that... He congratulated me on my weight loss and told me that I was a beautiful woman (blushing) and there was no reason to fix the hanging skin. We talked about my upper body and the problems I had with my previous plastic surgery on my arms as well as my breast reduction. He asked me why I had so much breast tissue taken off... I said that I had some breasts and lost them with the weight loss.. blush again! So, now he will be submitting to the insurance company... In the meantime, I wanted to secure a date in November. The office has to contact my surgeon who will be doing the hernia repair with mesh insertion. I will be going to another plastic surgeon for a second opinion.. After I left, I noticed I forgot to put on my rings - I left them on the window sill in the office when I was putting on my pantyhose... Good thing I noticed when I was driving out of the parking lot. I went back to the office and the receptionist had them. OMG! I'm not as stressed now. I think that is why I was eating more. Now to wait for the date and see the 2nd plastic surgeon. Lucy

Congrats Lucy. I know how you feel. The 1st consult makes the PS aprehension must less. Especially when you have a great surgeon who is down to earth and loves his work. We might just have to take some pictures of out new bodies in 2 piece swim wear. (just once - LOL!) Sharyn

Hi Sharyn! I'm so glad the first one is over. To see all that hanging skin, OMG! I have a picture of me in a two piece swimsuit from this month! Not bad except for the hanging skin. I'll be happy when all my doc appointments are done. Two more, one for plastic surgery and one gyne. Both will be completed by September 13th. I'm hoping for plastic surgery right after Thanksgiving! Only to coordinate two surgeons schedules. I hope your feeling better since your ps. Thanks Sharyn for your response. Maybe one day...some of us Junebugs will have a reunion and meet! Lucy

there should be NO reason not to fix the hanging skin! I forgot to add NO to that sentence. It's been a stressful day at work too. I'm glad to be home. What a day! Lucy

That is awesome Lucy! I am going Wed. for my 1st ps consult. I am very nervous, but ready to bare it all too! Anything to be rid of this gut! I look at it and wondered about my privates too. I heard that it is pulled up with the tuck, but I don't want hair up to my belly button LOL!! Sorry TMI!! Wendy

Hi Wendy! I had to laugh at your comment about the pubic hair! OMG, you're right. I'm going to have to ask him about that. I'm so glad the first one is over... I've got my second opinion consult a week from Monday. Good luck with your 1st ps consult! Once you bare it all, there's nothing else left. Oh, what we will do.... Can't wait to hear about your experience! Lucy

Hi Renee! The lower belt lipectomy - goes from front to back under the waist and just above the butt. It includes the lifting of the skin from the legs upwards as well as the tummy tuck part plus lifts the sagging skin from the butt. The plastic surgeon cost was quoted to me as $12,500.00. That's without the hospital part. He is submitting to my insurance, but I think they will only cover the tummy tuck portion. I will have to pay for the rest. I've taken out a home equity loan to cover the cost. For me, it's well worth it. I have so much excess skin being SMO for almost all of my life. I exercise, but the skin will not go back to its normal size. I have arms with excess skin too. I'm planning on doing the upper part of my body work next year. I don't know when, as I have to fully recover from this procedure. It's going to cost me, but it will be worth it! Hope this helps! Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Lucy
