Hip surgery went well

Hi All, I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I do read almost daily. It's been crazy here since we got back from Europe with Mark and Amelia's wedding, a wedding to photograph, and then Wednesday (8/23) I had my hip surgery. My ortho told me that he was able to save only about 20% of my labrum (cartiledge) in my hip. He said there was some arthritis but not horrible. Now I just have to take it easy for a couple more days. I'm using my crutches only when I need them, like when the pain meds wear off, and I'm feeling pretty good. I've really been concentrating on getting some extra protein in and have been avoiding carbs these last couple days so I can get in that protein. Need that protein for healing. Hope you are all doing well. Have a great rest of the weekend. Love, Deb

Hey Deb!! I've been wondering about you! Wow, you've been back to back busy! Was the doc able to do your surgery orthroscopically? Sounds like you are doing very well post-op. My husband just had knee surgery about three weeks ago. He just went back to work. Well, you take it easy and get all healed up. Sounds like you are doing exactly what you should be doing. ((((hugs)))) Pam

Thanks Pam. Yes, he was able to do it with the scope, but oh my what a procedure. They actually had to dislocate my hip to do it. The table I was on is called a fracture table...looked like a torture machine. Glad I was fast asleep. I'm doing just what he told me to do...take it easy. I just feel a bit tired out more than anything. And...they must have pumped me full of fluids during that surgery because I gained 3 lbs! And...I haven't eaten much at all since Tuesday! Oh well...as soon as I can get active again it will start coming off again I'm sure. Thanks for your hugs...right back at you. Love, Deb

Hi Debra! Sorry to hear that you had to have surgery. Good to see that you are recuperating. Yes, getting the extra protein is important since you need that for healing. Hope you will be feeling better soon! Remember to get your rest whenever you feel tired. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend too! Hugs, Lucy
