Wanted to update the Junebugs--Questions!

I have not posted in awhile, but I wanted to update you on my progress. I have not been feeling well at all lately so when I had my one year post-op on July 10 I was anxious to get my one year blood results. When I told her of my symptoms, light headed, fatiuge, cloud in my head, unable to think clearly, black outs when standing up to fast she told me that my blood work looked fine, but that I was a little low on protein and my low blood pressure indicated that I could be slightly dehydrated so she told me to drink more water and to eat more protein. As the week wore on, I was barely able to get through a day without feeling exhausted so I went to my primary care physician. Since I had my bloodwork done through my Employee Health Services I had this bloodwork sent over to my primary care doctor. Her take on the matter was entirely different---She told me that she had seen 90 year-old women with better blood work than mine. She said that my B12 was low, my hemoglobin was low, my protein, etc. All in all she said that I was pretty much malnurished and this explains why I was feeling like "crap". She gave me strict instructions on what to eat and what to drink, and she wanted to get my bloodwork checked again in two weeks. So I went in today to get my bloodwork done so I should know again sometime next week if my condition has improved. The cloudy feeling in my head is really annoying. Has anyone else experienced a cloudy feeling in the head and an inability to focus or concentrate? (i.e.memory issues, etc.) I have started taking some additional supplements for the brain hoping this will help---DHA, and EFA's. Any advice you could provide would be appreciated. I feel so tired all the time now. I am really trying to eat well and to hydrate, but I feel that it is still not enough because I am still not feeling 100%. Also, my weight has been droping again. I now weigh in at 135. I was hanging out at 142-138. Now, I am always consistenly weighing in at 135. My doctor told me at 138 not to lose any more weight so I am now below where I need to be weighing in at 135. I am ok at 135, but I don't think I need to lose anymore because I am 5 6 1/2. I am easily in a size 4. I don't think I would look good if I go to a size 2. I think I would start to look too sickly. Let me know if you have any thoughts.....thanks. Diana

I get tired and dehydrated easily also. Especially the blacking out thing happens to me if I am low on fluid. I have to push fluid all the time. I haven't had the cloudy head, but it is probably your b12. I heard you can get a sublingual supplement that might help. Wendy

I was having some memory problems and fatigue too, around my 9month checkup I had to get a vitamin B-1 injection shot (nurse gave me). I don't know if it solved it, but Vitamin B-6 & Vitamin B-12 deficiencies will cause lightheadedness & fatigue. and was told to take a vitamin B-1 capsule and a vitamin b-100 (I take 2 per day). My physician told me to take a Vitamin B-6/b-12 sublingual tablet once a week, unfortunately I don't listen very well & 1 take one a day. It doesn't hurt us to take more Vitamin b tablets than needed. As for protein, do you drink protein shakes? Claudia

Sorry for the delayed answer, but I've not been checking in as often anymore. I had the same kinds of symptoms, and the doctor checked the blood work and told me to up the B-complex to 2x per day and double my fluid intake. Two weeks later, I am feeling great. The cloudy head, can't hold a thought long enough to get it out in an intelligent sounding manner thing was the worst part! You'll "excrete" any extra B's, so as long as my urine is bright yellow (from the supplement), the doc says I'm doing fine. I'm taking in almost 100 ounces of fluids a day, but it's also over 100 degrees here most days, with the heat index. Take care, and hope you start feeling better. Kristie
