i went to my appt this morning. i posted last night that i was nervous about going. it seemed to be ok, but she told me that i am under where they want me to be. i don't understand. i am only 5'2'' and she said they would want me to be around 125. i weighed in there at 116, fully clothed. she told me that's too low. now she wants me to go see the nutritionist. she wants me to up my calories to 1200 ( i tend to get 700-800) and she said i am probably having dizzy spells due to not getting enough protein. she also wants me to come back in 3 months instead of next year for a weight check. i had my bloodwork done and she said she will let me know the results. i just don't get it. i told her i will go to the nutritionist, but i do not want to gain any weight. she said that is fine, but i need to really try to maintain now. i just don't see how 125 is the lowest they want me when i am only 5'2''. oh well! i am happy with where i am at anyways! hugs~mary jo

I had my 1 year appt today too! I am doing pretty good but they want me to lose too much weight! That is funny, they told you that you need to gain and I need to lose too much! I am 6 foot and they want me at 148!!!! I would be skeletal!! I am shooting for 180 after plastics. I do have 2 hernias though, that sucks! Well I am glad you are happy with your loss, If you feel good that is what is important. And PS- I think alot of us have dizzy spells now. It seems to be a common side effect of this surgery. Wendy

I am waiting to lose another 30 lbs before I go in for a consult. I am still not 100% sure they will cover the tt even with the hernias. It just depends on the insurance if they are feeling generous. Although I do have one hernia in my incision and one lower in my belly button. The nurse practitioner I saw said they can get worse from the hanging skin, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. The boobs are up in the air so to speak! LOL! OK they are really dragging the ground, but the hubby doesn't want the reduction done. I can have the reduction through the insurance, but I have to convince him to get with me on this one. I would be happy with B cups. I am a D now. He says a C, but I think they will take more than that. I plan on doing it, but I want his support! I told him I would go braless alot if he wants LOL! Wendy

Mary Jo, go figure on this one. We're all over the board on this one. My surgeon first wanted me at 140 pounds. I said that's too low.. I suggested 160 pounds before plastics. Now he agreed with me. I know that 140 is nearly impossible for me... I wasn't that since i was 9 or 10. I don't think that 120 or less is healthy for me (that would be after plastics). I am 5'6" and 53 years old. You will know what is a good weight for you. Eventually your surgeon will see it that way too. As long as you are healthy and your labs are fine. Congrats on your success! i think 160 is a great weight for you, pre-plastics or not! you already look so great! crossing my fingers that my labs are ok. i have to go get my iron script filled. i have been without for about a month and 1/2, so she wants me to start that 2x a day again and after 2 weeks wants me to add calcium, which i haven't taken up to this point. hugssssssssss

Well years ago I was told at 5 ft you should weight 100. For ea*****h after that you should add 5 lbs. My doctor wants me to weigh 130 and I'm 5'6 so that would make sense according to what he said. I would not gain any weight either.

i never heard of that before, but it sounds good to me. so even 110 would probably be ok for me. thanks for the info! hugsssssss

Mary Jo~ glad you're appt. went okay. I agree with everyone. As long as your labs are okay, I think you should stay at the weight you feel comfortable. I do think that 700 calories is a little low, though. I've not heard anything from others that says to be under 1000. I'm not sure you can get enough protein in. Are you taking protein drinks? Also, I was surprised that you haven't been told to take calcium. I've been having to take 1000- 1500g/day! No matter what, you should be so proud of yourself and all that you have accomplished! My doc had said that at 5'8+, I should be at 141. I would be thrilled at 150 after ps. My 1 year isn't until the 23rd so we'll see where I weigh in at. The last 2 months have been incredibly slooooooow for me, which I'm surprised because I still have about 40 lbs. to go. Hugs, Kerri

thanks kerri. yeah, i know i don't get enough protein. my doc told me early post-op that they want me to get protein from food. but now i think they want me to add a protein drink if i can't get enough from food. i am considering it. your anniversary is right around the corner! don't worry about them 40 lbs, you have done sooo great and you will get there! i saw a friend of mine at the docs today, she was there for her 2 yr follow-up. and she lost 30 lbs since her 1 yr appt, so you got plenty of time to make goal! hugssssssssss
