What do u do for constipation?
I am having a terrible time with constipation (hope I am spelling it right, lol). I noticed that I was eating a lot of cheese in oder to get my protien in so I stoped that but it has not helped. I now am eating Special K - Protein to increase my fiber and still get in my protien but it does not seem to help. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to here them. Thanks.

Hi Laural,
I started eating yogurt (Danon Fit and Trim) with 1/2 cup Grape Nuts every day (sometimes twice a day) and that really seemed to help a lot. I also use Benefiber once a day. I just can't possibly get in the fruits and veggies needed to get the fiber I need. I'm also conscious about drinking enough liquids. In the morning an hour before I eat I always have something hot like decaf coffee or tea. This helps things move along. If you are really constipated you can try glycerine suppositories. Those help a lot too and don't have a laxative effect.
Hope this info helps!
All the best, Debra
Tons of water! Also a little raisin bran. The natural sugars in raisins don't seem to cause dumping with me, but go easy at first just in case. Debra is right about the hot drink in the morning, this does help some people too. I think we all fight the constipation monster! LOL! It is terrible, I won't go into details, but boy I have had a couple of terrible bouts. Don't let it get too bad before you do something.
Get some colace if it is constant and recurring, I hear this is very helpful. And once again, Tons of water!!!
Good luck,
Wendy
I swear by a product called "Super Cleanse" made by Nature Made. I've taken it for years. It is all natural, just various herbs. You take one or two tablets at night with water, and the next morning----like clockwork. No cramps or gas cause it's not a laxative. You just take it regularly like Benefiber. Only the fiber ingredients in it are better than Benefiber. My doctor told me that Benefiber is okay, but the fiber it contains is the kind that just makes you go, but is not a complete fiber that actually contributes to colon health. In any case, it really works for me, even on days where I don't eat as well as I should. Like Debra, I have found it impossible to eat all the fiber I need from fruits and veggies.

This is what I did to get me going and it has kept me going. 2 senakot stool softners per day. Dieters tea at night for a week. Don't drink more than 6 oz a night. Before I did the Senakot I did 2 T. of mineral oil, which got me going by the next morning. You are not suppose to mix the mineral oil and senakot, why I don't know. After the dieters tea, I have kept doing the Senakot, and I go pretty much every day now.
well, it's well known by everyone that i have had terribe issues with this. I finally found something that works! FRUIT!! I'll go to a salad bar at lunch time and get cheese cubes, meat cubes, strawberries, grapes, cherry tomatoes, green pepper strips and one or two cubes or canteloupe. OR I go to chick-fila and get a fruit cup. I eat a banana every day. Sometimes I have apple slices with peanut butter. Ever since i started doing that - I'v been regular. If i don't get some fruit in on a certain day, I take 2 stool softeners. It has been a WONDERFUL relief.
At first i was afraid to incorporate fruit due to the carbs and natural sugar - but it hasn't affected me at all. I'm maintaining at 125.
Good luck!
Pam
