I never know if I should watch just my protein or my protein and calories. I have been stuck at 185 for about a month now and it is driving me crazy. I am keeping my protein at 60 or above and my calories have been on an average of about 1000-1150 per day. I am walking a mile per day which my busy schedule that is about all I can do; can't wait until the summer when I am off work and have more time to walk. Am I getting in too many calories or what? Someone please help me! Laural 313/292/185/155

HI LAURAL! just want to offer you (((HUG))) i think your calories seem fine... my weight is not really moveing all that much! ITs hard but i am sure inches are melting. I know even though the scale has only moved few lbs in the last few months, I have changed alot of sizes. SO keep up the great work and the scale will move. IF there is any way you can up your protein and water and shake up your eating if there very similar day to day i bet it will jump start some looseing. lisa

I don't know what to tell you other than personal experiences. I personally have to have a day or two where I eat A LOT of calories and carbs and then go back to the strict 800-1000 cal. a day with around 90g to 120g of protein to kick start my metabolism. Sometimes your body needs to be tricked into thinking that it will get lots of fuel. I am not talking about cheating. I mean actually purposefully eating higher calorie and higher carb count products. But only for a day or two. However, if you are a total carb addict and can't stop after a day or two and go back to a regular diet, DON'T do this! I don't want anyone going crazy because of something I said. But you really have to up your protein and water after doing this. It really helps to kick start your metabolism. I would say if you can get in 1800-2000 calories for 1 or 2 days and go back to the regular diet than you may break your plateau. No guarantees though. But it does work for me. Wendy

Hi Wendy Thanks for the info. I have been stuck on 179 forever!! I was actually thinking of doing something like that but didn't know how to do it. Thanks for the ideas. Sharyn

I don't think so. I have been up and down for like 6-7 wks, then today I finally dropped a couple of pounds. I'm praying it's the real thing, but I had a virus this week. Your calories seem fine. You may want to up your protein a bit. Good luck!

Laural, I really don't see why we are all not losing. ??? No way are you eating too much. I've been stuck in the 180's too. This has been one VERY long plateau for us all. They were not kidding when they said the weightloss slows down around a year. At this rate I will be lucky to get to 150. BOOOOOOO!!!!! This is my last week of school. Yeah! I'll have no excuse not to exercise starting in June. I'm hoping that will jump start my weightloss again. My fingers are crossed. Dawn

Laural, I am right with you. I am stuck at the 180 mark and have been for a month or so. Maybe even 6 weeks. I run at least 3 times a week and it is driving me crazy that the pounds are not coming off. I wanted to be 150 and at this rate I'll never make it. It sounds like you are eating about what I am eating. This week I am going to focus on protein and doing more liquids than normal. Like 100+ oucnes of water and some hot tea. If a week of doing this doesn't help I don't know what I'll do! Good luck. Tava 320/180/150 2 June 2005
