Topic: 3-year anniversaries coming up!!!
Well I finally have a "face" here at OH . . . so I wanted to pop in on the Junebugz board and say hello to everybody.
I realized this morning that there are only 3 months left until our 3-year surgery anniversaries.
How about a check-in from everyone?

Topic: Back 2 Basics
We have talked about accountability, about being overwhelmed and consumed by weight loss. We have shared tears and laughter talking about our ups and downs. We cheer each other on as we reach our goals and dish out quick insight to those who are in need of direction and guidance.
As post ops no matter how far out we are we often have to be totally honest with ourselves and get back to basics.
When you hit a plateau you can not shake....back 2 basics.
When you can not loose those last few pounds....back 2 basics.
When your pouch is acting up and will not relax....back 2 basics.
When you are tired, lifeless and have no energy....back 2 basics.
When you get off track and need to get it together...back 2 basics.
When you have been away from the gym for far to long....back 2 basics.
We all know what I'm talking about.
Eat right - small portions, protien first, low carbs, no sugars, no breads, rice, potatoes or pasta. Don't drink with your meal - wait 30 minutes.
Drink WATER - 64 to 92 ounces every day. No sodas or sugar laced beverages, limit alcohol consumption.
Take your vitamins. ALL OF THEM. Multi Vitamin, B12, Clacium, Iron, B complex.
Drink protein supplements 40 - 60 grams of protein per day.
Exercise - 30 minutes of cardio minimum ` 30 minutes of weight resistance.
Get adequate sleep 8 hours each night
Follow up with your surgeon. Get blood work done regularly.
You know...the basics. The wonderful thing about WLS is you can always go back and start each day fresh and it does work. When you get off track ~ the basics will bring you back.

Terry good ideas here....I have started to try and get a hold of the demons now. I have exercised as much as I can without being the "Gym Rat". 3-4 times...90+ minute sessions....weights and cardio. Its the food that is out of control. I think this weekend we do have to do a clean out of snacks....Geez I never really noticed how many different snacks I have brought into the house. So clean up is needed. I do need to start writing down what I am eating because I too am eating things during the day that I have forgotten and of course they have not forgotten me because its reflected on the scale. Thanks for the reminders/tips.

Wow! Congrats on the wonderful weight loss! I'm so sorry that I didn't check June bugs board earlier than this. I'm still not at goal, but plan on definately having plastics at some point. I began my journey at 400 pounds and am now down to 279. I have more to go, but keep working towards my goal! You have done very well!
It is hard to tell someone not to worry! You have come this far and to trade in the melted skin for scars is hard, but doable! You will do just fine! That is why they give you good drugs so you will be very relaxed!
Hang in there and keep us all updated on how you are doing okay? When is your surgery date?

Good afternoon June Bugs,
Hi my fellow losers how are all of you doing 2 1/2 years out? I will be going for my tummy tuck on 1/18/07. I'm having a belt lipectomy and also breast augmentation. I can't wait I was first denied on 8/05 terminated Aetna and applied for a medicaid HMO. The HMO approved me with no problem I'm so anxious right now counting the days until surgery but more nervous this time around. I would like to know how many of you had your surgeries and how your feeling was it worth it are the results what you expected and who is still waiting for plastics!!!
Thank you 268lbs/137lbs/155lbs and much happier,
Celena

Lyn,
I see I am really late on an update here.... Thanks for starting the thread. Life has been hard the last 6 months and there is a gain going on that I am going to stop right now....Alcohol is not my friend. I see with the little I have the scale just goes up and up....not good. So its going away for a long time...maybe forever. I am going to try and avoid it as much as possible. I like the taste and the feeling after one drink....not good. My exercise is picking up again. I am almost lifting 100lbs with the arms.....amazing when I started it was only 20 lbs if that. I like life...do I want more of a loss...hell yes. I wish I could get to the ones.....Maybe 2007 will be my year! Happy New Year to all you June Bugs.....and remember we can do it...Be Healthy!!!!

Topic: RE: Preganent help!!
Congratulations Ladies,
I do have one concern in your post Chocolate Diva, you mentioned that your doctor will start seeing you at 8 months? Hopefully you meant 8 weeks because even the healthiest pregnant lady needs to be seen at least monthly. Pregnant women who have had GBS need to be monitored more closely.
Wishing you and baby to be the very best!

I understand where you're coming from! Do you have a support group where you are? That helps me to stay accountable for my actions. My surgeon here insists that we only eat 3 meals and no snacking....ever! That helps me stay on track. I still try to eat protein first and supplement it with other stuff like salads, lots of veggies that have few calories. Eating denser proteins that are more filling helps me too. I love cottage cheese but since it's got a high water content it's not as filling to me as a few slices of deli turkey breast. I avoid bad carbs like breads also. And how about exercise? Don't stop doing that just because you think you're eating more. On days when I eat lousy I try to do more exercise. I still exercise for 60-90 minutes, 4-5 days a week and some days I go at night and pick up a cycling class for an extra workout which I enjoy.
Try writing down everything that you eat and see exactly how many calories you're getting. Include everything....like those little mints, candies, gum that we pop in our mouths throughout the day. And how about your fluid intake? Are you drinking enough? Are you not drinking with meals? That's important and I really see a difference when I do sip with meals....I can eat so much more. Don't get into that bad habit. I also find it helpful to keep my food about the same everyday. I find that if I have too many choices I eat more.
Anyway, hope this helps. It does get to be a struggle and I always tell people looking into this process that it's only a tool and the food demons and old habits never go away. I struggle with it everyday too.
Good luck,
Terry Coles
