Hi Lyn There is a post on this board that says back to basics if you have not read it you need to it will help you.I have realy struggled some times but i always go back to the basics and act like i have just had the surgery yesterday and start to loose again. When people say it is the lazy way to loose weight they are so wrong because we will have to work to keep the weight off the rest of our lives.I still have diadetes but it is under control and i do not have to take insulen anymore iam on one 4mg pill now.You mite have a hernia i would have it checked out just to make sure. When you go back to your surgeon for your 3 year check up you mite tell him about the hurting and see what he will say.

Hi Pamela! On June 8th, it will 3 years for me also. Where does the time go??? It seems like just last week, I was at home, recovering from surgery....then at the same time, it seems like my old life was a lifetime ago....Weird... My lowest weight was 148.5. For like 10 minutes! I bounced around in the low 150's for awhile, but looked way too thin. I think I must have lost a lot of muscle, cause I was wearing a size 6 jean. I can't remember EVER wearing a size 6, even in grade school! Everyone told me I looked gaunt and that my face was way too thin. I started working out and gained about 10 to 15 lbs of muscle. I went back up to a size 8 or a 10 and have stayed there. I'm happy as long as I'm in my size 10 jeans and my weight is in the 160's. (although lately I've been around 168 to 169 and it's probably time to drop about 10 lbs! I know I'd feel better if I did.) So I've started to really concentrate on my water and counting those carbs (or lack of!) Thats the deal I made with myself. I will stay in the 160's ( or lower) If I start gaining any weight, I will do what it takes to get back to my size 10's and in my range of the 160's. WLS really is not the magic wand, some people think it is! It will always be a lot of work to stay thin, but it's SO worth it!! Healthwise, I'm doing OK. I get a pain in my lower right groin area sometimes. I often wonder what it is, but it hasn't been bad enough to go get it checked out. My diabetes is gone, my knees are hanging in there, as is my back. The wear and tear of 50 years of being obese, sometimes gets to my knees and back, but so far, I can live with it. I know of others that are far worse off than I. I truly have been so blessed to have been able to get this surgery and get this weight off. It will always be a battle, to stay in control, no emotional eating (or drinking!) and keep up the exersize, but thats the gig I signed up for! And I am so much a better person for it! So much happier, healthier and living life now, instead hiding out away from it! I am truly thankful for all of the second chances I've been given! Lyn

I am so frustrated. I am dealing with the same 10 pounds over and over and over again. My body just WANTS to be in the 160's. And darn it I want to be in the 150's hahaha. After my tummy tuck in November 05 I dropped to 148 . . . but slowly have crept back up and usually stay between 160-165. But I have to be SO careful. One bite of carbs causes me to gain a clothes size. (OK I'm exaggerating here but that's the way it feels.) I am a stress eater, and have been going through a lot of changes lately. My partner of 10 years and I have split, I have moved to a new state (DE) and now am having trouble finding work in my field. My kids and I are staying with my mother until I find work (not FUN moving back in with your mother at 45 years of age with two young kids in tow, trust me on THIS). I have too much free time on my hands, and keep finding myself with my head stuck in the fridge. Today was the day of reckoning -- it's finally getting warm here so I pulled the summer clothes out of storage. Let's just say if I don't lose ten pounds, I am going to have to go clothes shopping for a size bigger -- or go naked LOL. -BJ 300/150/168.4 today grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well its nice to see your face! You look wonderful! I can't believe it will be 3 months until 3 years....Its been amazing. I am on the gain side too but you know its not that bad. I see 10 lbs is going around. I have been busy with life, school, new job....its been wonderful but stressful. I am sure that is where the pounds are coming in at....also not much gym time. We are changing that this week. I do plan on changing eating stuff this week too! Its time for me to be in control instead of letting other things control me. That is what got me to 425 lbs. and you know I don't want to go there again. My 16's are tight but still go on. Now lets get these 10 lbs plus more off. I can do it right? Debbie

Well its hard to believe we are on the 3 year mark...or least real close to it. I too have been playing around with the 10 lb spread. I got down to 151 and now I fluctuate between 161 and 165. I hate it but then I look back at when I was 287, I thank the good Lord above that I am still at this weight. I know that I need to get back to exercising and remembering the rules of the pouch. My son has had some health issues (3 brain tumor surgeries ) and so I have all but quit that...and focused totally on his health. Kind of stupid when you think about it. But it will get better. I am living for warmer weather and better times. COngrats to everyone out there that has maintained this weight at long as we have. We have conquered this thing...we just need to keep it at bay.(the weight monster) that is. Best of luck over the next year. Cindy in Sarahsville! 287/165/ my ultimate goal 145 june 18, 2004

I haven't been on OH for a long time now. Too busy living life. But bored in work today since I'm alone in the office. I work for a doctor and he's out the rest of the week, so is the other women I work with. I originally lost 150 pounds, went down from 276 to 125. Stayed that way for a year or so, then went to 130. Now I seem to be staying between 130-135. My size 3 an 4 pants still fit, so not sure if it's muscle weight or what? When I see my wls in June and he calculates my body fat I'll know for sure. I still love the way I look! I still work out 5-6 days a week and have gotten into trying classes at the gym. For the longest time I would just work out on my own afraid to try any classes. Back in August I started spinning and love it now. And tried another one recently that was tough but I got through it. I have to convince myself that I'm thin now and as fit as anyone else in the class and tell myself that I CAN DO IT. And I'm amazed that I CAN indeed keep up with others in these classes. Life is GOOD!!!! Take Care, Terry Coles

Hi Barbara! I've been thinking the same thing! It is always fun and inspiring to read about other people's successes and challenges. I am still in the 160's. I go up and down like everyone else, but mainly I range from 165 to 168. Yes, I would love to see 10 to 15 lbs gone, and I'm working on it! I still go to the gym 3 to 4 days a week and I really enjoy it. I recently got a part time job (which I love!) so working out 6-7 days a week, isn't happening, but 3 or 4 days a week seems to be enough for now. I do the best I can! I am still wearing a size 10 (or a 11 or a 13 in juniors). I just got out all of my summer clothes(from last year) and everything still fit perfectly! That still trips me out a little....never in my whole life, have I ever worn clothes that still fit from the previous summer(or winter...). Ahhh, the wow moments still happen! Maybe that 10 lbs is muscle? I can't figure it out! So all in all, life is good! Very good! I've had some major changes lately, breaking up with long term boyfriend, etc. But so far, it hasn't shown in the scale! I hope things are well with you also! Lyn 245/165/155?
