Topic: RE: can't seem to lose since January!!
Have you tried upping your water as well? I was on a plateau for nearly 2 months but on Monday I started drinking well over 100oz a day (usually about 120oz) and the scale finally moved down 3 lbs yesterday when I weighed in!! I'm sure it'll pick up again, you'll get there! Also remember that you may be burning fat and building muscle (which weighs more than fat) .. keep up the good work! Lisa

I started out at 236. 3x shirts and 2x (stretchy pants/skirts). I am at 160 wearing any where between 10 and 14. I have been bouncing between 165 and 160. To be perfectly honest...I don't exercise (can't seem to find the time) and have been "cheating" and know I need to chill if I want to lose anymore. Actually I don't know if losing another 30 lbs suits me. I look like a crack head now!!! I LIKE BEING A LOSER but I want to control my pace a little bit.

I am in the same boat you are in. I started at 270 and now am 184 and have been stuck since the beginning of March. I feel thinner but the scale seems to be stuck. I am so glad u posted so I could also read the responses saying others have the same problem. I walk a fair amount but will up it and begin, once again to watch very close what I eat.

Topic: 11 month celebration - triathlon
Hi, my name's Laura. I had my surgery June 21st of last year. My 11 months is May 21st, so I've decided to celebrate it by competing in a triathlon. It's not those huge ironmans, but it's a start. I've been training 6 days a week for it, and can't believe the improvement I've seen! I'm currently down 110 lbs, have MAYBE 5 more to go. That's not including some extra, annoying skin that I'll probably have removed in the next year. That's another 5 lbs, I'll betcha. Last year I was 270lbs, now I'm down to 160, and I've become a bicycling geek. The swim portion of the triathlon has me panicked, because I've never swam with people before, but it's the first event, so I'll get it over with quickly. I'm a little creeped out by the fact that I'm enjoying running. I never enjoyed running before! It was always torture! Creepy. I have more energy that I know what to do with. I'm like a smurf on expresso. My poor partner can't keep up with me, so I've been SHOVED out of the house with stern instructions to "go work out and don't come back til you're tired!" I can't belive the difference this year had made. I started in 44 jeans (men's size), now I'm down to 31. That's a 10 in women's, isn't it? So I was a 24 or 26 I think before surgery. The worst part is my bra size. I started in a 44DD. The other day, I bought a bra that fits, and it's a 36B. A 'B'!!! Those can stop shrinking now, thank you very much. Of course, I'm also fighting major plateaus, since I'm so close to my goal weight. I'd like to just hurry up and lose those last 5 or 10 lbs, and call it done! I think a good portion of you know what I mean, because this is annoying! I plateau for a month or so, drop 5 lbs, plateau another month, drop 5 lbs. ERGH!! Anyway, wish me luck, I have less than a month to go, then I'll be competing against those skinny, athletic women who have been doing this for years, and I'm determined to kick the patootie of at least ONE of them!

Topic: Hernia
I just went to an appt with my PCPand I told her that I think that i have a hernia. She had me lay down and then poked and prodded and asked who my surgeon was. She then proceeded to tell me that I did, in fact, have a hernia and it was a good thing it was so large. Otherwse we would be facing a life threatening problem. Not something that i wanted to hear. It is a 10 centimeter hernia. I go 5/9 to see my surgeon and he wants to lok at it and then either do the repair himself or refer me to a surgeon that is local to me. Thing is, now it hurts. Any suggestions? Sheri

Topic: lost half of myself
As of today I can literally say I've lost HALF the person I used to be. I've lost 138 pounds and I weigh 138 pounds. Amazing! And to think it's only been 10 1/2 months. Wow! What a great experience this has been, and it's not over yet. Terry Coles 276/138/130 someday soon

Topic: RE: can't seem to lose since January!!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I met with my dietician this afternoon. Newsflash - I need to bump my exercise up! She wants me to try to average 1100 calories a day with 60 grams of protein. She said that Calories = protein, carbs, fat. So if I'm taking care of getting 1100 calories and 60 grams of protein a day, the carbs and fat will work out. I went by the bookstore and bought a walking workout DVD for the days that I just can't get to the gym. So, no excuses! Thanks for the incentive to get to goal by 1 year anniversary. Time to get committed again! Thanks again! Beth

Hi Beth, I went through the same thing, but my plateau lasted from December through March, I'd go up and down the same 2 lbs and finally I have started to lose lbs again. During this time I too lost inches though. In January I began exercising 4-6 days a week. I have just started losing again and lost 4 lbs. Hang in there and continue to do the right things, you'll get there. Terri
