Topic: RE: Band slipped need advice
Hi Elaine! I had my RNY in June of 2004 and I LOVE IT!!! If I were you, I would switch to the RNY. Mainly because, I think ( and this is just my humble opinion) if I was to go from a lapband to nothing, I know I would certainly gain all my weight back. I never wanted the lapband at all, I never even considered it. I couldn't handle the thought of a foreign object inside my body. Besides, I wanted something more permanent.Kinda like, this is the gig you signed up for, so deal with it!! Just in case I had any complications... Now I know a lot of banders that are doing well, with no problems at all and they love their band. But for me, I liked the RNY. Mind you, I do have the dumping to deal with. But it keeps me on track and away from anything sweet or greasy. And no, I haven't had any MAJOR complications, just a little reactive hypoglycemia now and then and the dumping thing. But all in all, my life is awesome!! Would I go for the RNY again? In a hot second!! Good luck to you, with whatever you decide...

Topic: Band slipped need advice
Okay folks I need your advice and be honest... I had my LapBand surgery in June 2004 and initially was very sucessful. First my port slipped, needed suregry. Then had a hiatal hernia, needed surgery. The in Feb 06 I started having really bad reflux, but did not have insurance as I had just relocated from NY. So now I have insurance and found a new surgeon I really like. He had me do a barrium swallow and my band has slipped and slipped bad. Where my pouch should be is my stomach and my band is at the bottom. This has caused my esophgus to dilate pretty baddly casuing the relfux. Anyway I have three options and I have until next week to decide. I can have the band revised and put back into place, I can have it removed all together or I can do an RNY. Let me also say that even with all the problems I have had I still love my band and dont regret doing it one bit! Please help with this decision.... Oh and by the way he went to empty my band and my port has flipped again.

Happy Anniversary Terry! Yep, it really has been three years...wow....You must look great!!! And you're still hitting the gym! Good for you girl!! I have put on a few pounds myself. I hate it! Almost 20, from my lowest weight. (149 and I was there for about a minute!) I know it's not all muscle, cause I went from an 8 to a 10, but I've stayed there and didn't gain any more. (I refuse to!!) The weird thing is, I gained the weight when I started working out and now that I don't have a gym membership any longer, (I know, bad girl!!) I'm losing again! I can't figure it out... Anyway, all is well in my world too. I'm still in the 160's, eating well, taking my vitamins and drink, drink, drinking my water! All my co-morbs are still under control and I'm feeling pretty healthy! Here's to a healthy next 3 years for all!! Lyn

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US JUNEBUGS... I can't believe it's been that long. In some ways it seems like only yestereday but in other ways it seems like I've been thin all my life. It's funny when I find an old photo and see how terrible I looked. I'm loving my new life and new body!!!! I'm still obcessed with exercise, and lately have been getting up before 5am to hit the gym before work. I do two hours, then head off to work. I really have come to thoroughly enjoy exercising!!! Whenever I don't want to do it all I have to do is look in the mirror and thank God for my new body. I love the way I look and want to keep this body looking this way. How's everyone else doing? I do seem to have put on 10 pounds, not sure if it could be muscle or not? Will see my surgeon next month and see how my body fat percentage measures up compared to last year. Well, back to work now. Topic: Upcoming Anniversary update
It's already been 3 years! My weight is stable, I haven't lost or gained (but haven't tried that hard either) for months. The one spot I've never been able to ingrain is exercise - I AM more active, but don't have a regular exercise routine. That's still an area I just haven't made time for. I still haven't had my internal picture of myself catch up with the external. The other day I saw a dress and it looked like it was made smaller than the size tag read -- so I tried on what I THOUGHT it looked like I would wear. It was too big. Then tried on one size smaller and still needed to come down one more size! I laughed about it because in the old days, it would have been the opposite --- the humiliation of having to try on "bigger" sizes instead of smaller! I am glad I still react to most fats and carbs -- so that helps keep me in check! I've also developled hyper-reactive hypoglycemia -- so that keeps me from being too tempted to go for any high sugar snacks. MOST of my better eating habits outweigh bad choices, but I do still have opportunities to learn a new lesson! Every now and then I eat something and pay the price for it later. Overall, I'm so grateful the timing was right for me to have the surgery 3 years ago. Our insurance at work has really tightened down and unfortunately it's making it more difficult for people to get.

Topic: RE: June 22nd will be Three Years And Doing Great
Good Morning! Yes, I've decided to do just that. In fact, yesterday was my first day and I did quite well. I dropped 3 lbs! I know it's water weight, but hey! I'll take it!! My biggest challenge I think, is the water. I did drink over 100 oz's yesterday and look what happened! Yes, going back to basics is an excellent idea! Thanks for the support and your reply! Have a great day everyone! Lyn 245/168/155
