Topic: RE: well it's 10 month's how are you doing?
I have to admit - I am a little heart broken. I am so thrilled for and so proud of all of you for doing such a tremendous job!!!! I am disappointed with myself. I have lost 72 pounds - which I am truly thankful for and I feel soooooo much better. I move, I jump, I run with my kids. I have not stopped losing weight (well I did for 5 winter months) but I am losing so painfully slowly. I know what I am doing wrong - not enough water - not paying any attention to protien, eating junk and not exersizing. Does it get any worse? (yes, gaining - thankfully I haven't done that!) I think I have really been taking my surgery for granted. I have been so consumed with all my other responsibilites in life - I haven't put effort into maximizing my "tool". How do you change your bad habits? I am the mother of four young children and I homeschool them all. I am sure that I don't take time for myself because there is so many other things I feel I must do - but realistically - 30 minutes of exersize a day is POSSIBLE. I am a Christian with a strong faith. I should be able to do this. Sorry to dump my pain on all of you, but how do you really change? Athena

HI Nancy, Isn't great (and funny) how we can be so real with one another? For me it is SUGAR that is the offender. When I eat too much of it - the whole family knows it!!!! When I avoid it or just have some -but don't over indulge - I am fine. Good luck to you in finding out what might be causing it. I haven't tried any products - I just try to watch what I eat! Athena

OF COURSE it's OK... I'm sure Susan won't mind... I have it posted in my house and at work (door, right beside my comparison picture to keep me motivated and focused) http://www.geocities.com/tiger_angie/images/13jul04-14mar05.jpg BTW, you've done wonderfully!!! Just refocus, get back on track... remember... low carb, high protein, lots of water, and exercise (my weak point ;) )... you've come so far already!!! Angie http://www.geocities.com/tiger_angie

I get bad gas when I've eaten lots of carbs, which I rarely eat anymore. Seems if I stick to eating just protein and fruits and veggies I'm fine. And any of those with the sugar alcohols cause gas too. Good luck, terry coles 276/134/130 soon

Topic: RE: Do you still feel fat?
Somedays I literally have to stand in front of the mirror and say to myself, "you're wearing a size 4 pants and that's a tiny size, so get over it. You're not fat." I think we still see the same old problems we had before. People tell me how great I look and I say to myself, "yes but my thighs are still too big." But I carried the bulk of the weight in my thighs. Now grant it I have lost 13 inches on each thigh, last time I measured, and I know I would not be wearing a size 4 pants if I was still fat, but yes somedays I still see the fat me. I guess I know I look good and different, but I don't think I'm "tiny." And people keep telling me how "tiny" I am, and that the wind is gonna blow me away. But reality hit me today when I weighed myself and realized I'm 134 pounds now.....in less than 11 months I've lost 142 pounds! Wow!!! Amazing. I've lost more than I weigh. Suddenly I realized that I'm only a few pounds away from my goal of 130 and I know this is gonna happen.....I will reach goal.....in fact I've decided I'd like to weigh somewhere in the 120's and plan to keep losing. With the great tool of this surgery and the effort we put into it....by making the right food choices and how much we exercise.....we can make our bodies into anything we choose to. I guess someday our images of ourselves will change. Good Luck, Terry Coles 276/134/4 more pounds to reach goal of 130

I have seen this issue discussed before, but I am getting at my wits end. I have tried Gas-X and Phayzyme(sp) with no positive results. I started taking something called Nullo which is an internal deoderant designed for ostomy patients which helps the odor somewhat but the gas is still persistant. Any ideas of other things to try to get rid of the gas. It doesn't seem to be any particular food that triggers it. It is just there constantly. Embarrassing!
